A Bat Bow, a Witch and Two Outfits

Hello friends! You've already seen this sweater a few weeks ago, but it's too cute to not want to style and wear it a variety of ways. I generally don't gravitate towards pullover style sweaters, yet I seemed to have acquired a few over this past year.

The bat headband was an impulse buy while ordering some pants from H&M. I could have made the headband myself and I wish I had, as the headband squeezes my will to live.....and my head. I'm hoping I slip off the bow and put it on a headband that is more comfortable.

The bow is still super fun to wear!

Wearing; sweater (Too Fast Clothing), Peter Pan collar shirt (Vintage Galeria), bat bow headband (H&M), pants (H&M), winklepicker shoes (thrifted)

Say hello to our newest blow mold addition, Miss Witchy Poo! I was so excited when the owner of the antique store across from work was kind enough to sell me his precious vintage witch. We collect blow molds (especially Halloween ones) and I've only seen this particular witch online and one or two house's lawns during the Halloween season. Side note-Derek and I like to play spot the blow mold. Hehe! We are both excited to have her and to be able to enjoy her for many years to come. :)

And the outfit, Though I wouldn't use the fashion term, "witchy", to describe my ensemble, yet it was certainly comfy! I dug out my little mini fedora hat in order to tame my mane, which I plopped on my head as a last minute outfit accessory. We were leaving the house to do some thrift shopping and I like to have my hair out of my face, so it dawned on me that I had been neglecting my hats.

Wearing; little fedora (old, TJ Maxx), oversize button down shirt (old, Forever 21), long sweater and black crushed velvet leggings (H&M), burgundy boots (6pm.com), bat necklace (old, eBay), bone necklace (Purgatory Plaything), pewter bone hoops (Martha Rotten).

I can't believe Halloween is only 6 days away. Crazy! We went to one Halloween party on Sunday and have costumes planned for a party on Halloween day, but I'm realizing I should dress up for the two parties we have this coming weekend. Time to dive into the costume boxes!

Are you going to any Halloween parties?

Oh-So Flowy Pants

The current trend in my dressing seems to be me throwing on things that I haven't worn in a very long time and realizing how much they are comfy and wonderful. I also forgot how lovely is it to be wearing wide leg pants.

It was the perfect day to play in the wind while wearing such flowy pants and such a flowy tank. I ran some errands and have been putting a bunch of new items up on my etsy page. It's fun to dress up in vintage clothing, I get to see myself in different styles. Yet, I'll stick to what I have going on now Hehe!

Wearing; tank top (Target), silky wide leg pants (H&M), bone loafer flats (Not Rated), Cult of Isis Necklace (Alchemy Gothic)

Is it weird to look at this photo and think, "Whoa, I have cool tattoos!" Never hurts to look at yourself from different aspects as well. *Wink*

Bad News, But Cute Outfit

We got a bit of bad news yesterday when I took our car in yesterday (which was already in the shop last Tuesday for brakes and an inspection) to figure out why we have a small oil leak. The results had me seeing red with dollar signs flying out of my eyeballs. We are getting a second opinion from the dealership next Monday. Ugh, at least I really liked my outfit as silly as that sounds.

In my life things happen in 3's. Sewer (now repaired), roof (starting tomorrow) and now the car. I'm trying not to lament too much, though it's overwhelming, but I know it can always be worse. Gotta look on the bright side-things are getting done.

Wearing; Off the shoulder top (H&M), belt (c/o Tobi), skirt (modified from a dress), necklace (flea market find), skeleton earrings (Alchemy Gothic), bow (piece of lace), flats (Target).

I'm looking forward to going out with friend's tonight and enjoying what's left of the summer months. I have some fun art projects I'm going to be working on and I've got all of you to help keep me positive and moving forward. *Wink*

Late Summer?

I wish I was able to take photos outside, but it was so very windy! It's been very unseasonably warm and it has got me a little mixed up as to what to wear. I was actually too warm wearing the lace sleeved cardigan! I'm not ready for snow, but it's hard to sip on pumpkin spice tea when it's 78 degrees out.....then again I can drink hot beverages at any temperature.

I ordered this maxi dress seeing as I thought it was a bit more summery and would be packed away until next season, but it's proving to be nice choice on this windy warm day.

I'm not a big fan of racer backs, but the hemline won me over. I layered the dress with a tank top as the medium is rather generous in the bust/armpits, it would be a little ummm, revealing if I only wore the dress with a bra. I wish I would have sized down, but C'est la vie!

I'm happy with the dress, it's great for layering with leggings and flowy cardigans. I'm sure I'll experiment with layering sweaters and/or tops over the dress. I love a versatile piece!

How is the weather in your neck-of-the-woods?

Dodging Raindrops

Wide Leg Satin Pants are from H&M, paired with an older tunic from Target and thrifted flat sandals. Another flowy outfit that was fun to wear while dodging raindrops and enjoying walking in the wind.

I'll be joining some friends for a bbq in celebration of the 4th of July. I hope you enjoy the beginning of your weekend!

Too Hot For Socks

I know it's too darn hot for me when I opt for an open-toe shoe option. I'm a fan of having cozy sock clad feet, but when temperatures soar it's time to wear as little as I can while within my comfort zone.

This is the second time I've had the chance to wear this rad H&M tunic that I snatched last year off the clearance rack. The flutter sleeves make my heart sing, yet it's not a piece that I could layer with a sweater, so it patiently sat in the closet throughout the cold months.

I really dig this minimal look, just really easy to throw on and head out the door. I even went to the mall to get away from our hot apartment with the hopes of finding some nice flowy garments to add to the summer collection. Nope. Nope. Nope. Most things were super ugly, too complicated or too hot/tight to wear in warm weather. I never have high expectations when browsing mall stores, but argh! At least I got some exercise and the air conditioning was nice and refreshing. Hehe!

What is your favorite thing to wear when it's too darn hot?

I Wear My Heart(s) On My....Legs?

Derek and I don't put much emphasis on February the 14th, but I wanted to get into the Valentine's Day spirit for work with these black and white heart tights. I picked the tights up at Forever 21 on my random trip to the mall (yesterday) for some exercise. I also came home with this open front cardigan from H&M which is already becoming a useful layering piece.

(I'm wondering if Robert Smith got my valentine...hehe!)

How ever you spend this day, just remember love can be celebrated everyday with anyone at any time!

Robert Smith kisses to you all!

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Dress

A few weeks ago I picked up this cute little dress from H&M that reminded me of twinkling lights. It's a layered hi-lo chiffon fabric dress that seems more summer than winter, yet I layered it with a long sleeve top, cozy sweater and leggings to make it cold weather approved. I'm even rockin' my trusty old studded creepers that were fixed on my recent trip to Mr. Jimmy the magical cobbler. Oh, how I missed my old friends!

My hair is seriously out of control, over grown and in desperate need of a hair cut. I just want it out of my face. Sigh. I know in these situations I need to take a step back before I shave all my hair off and cry. Hahahahaha!

My Birthday Outfit

Thank you for all the lovely birthday wishes, I was very touched and had a big ole' smile on my face all day long. My birthday was filled with a relaxing day at home and then having dinner and drinks with friends at one of favorite restaurants. I stuffed myself with sushi and was served numerous tasty desserts, I am still full!

I got a lot of wonderful gifts from my thoughtful friends which included a delicious bottle of chocolate wine. Chocolate and wine together!? It's a deadly delicious combination! Mmmmm!

I wore this outfit to dinner that was styled around this super cute H&M dress that I got from the clothing swap I attended a few months ago. I pretty much was just swapping with my friend Leslie, which excited me as I have always admired her style and clothing. I added a belt to the dress to drawn in the waist on the shift style dress, striped leggings and wore my skull buckle winklepickers with some black slouch socks.

With the holidays quickly approaching and the new year drawing near, I'm glad my birthday is over! Haha! I'm now another year older (and wiser?) and looking forward to all the adventures that 2014 will bring.

Merry Yule and Happy Holidays my friends!

Kitsch Picks : The Quest for Warmth

Kitsch Picks : The Quest for Warmth

Baby, it's cold outside. I need more sweaters, more layers and a small heater to carry around with me at all times. Just some fun pieces I've grown fond of while window shopping. Grant it, the shredded sweaters won't keep me too warm unless I layer underneath and boy do I layer!

Kitsch Picks : Jackets

I have to admit Autumn is in the air with my favorite fall scent Witch's Brew filling our apartment. Though the weather is still saying Summer, retails are rolling out their Fall fashions along with one of my weaknesses; jackets, coats and blazers. I need another one of these like I hole-in-the-head, but it's fun to look. *Wink*

Outfit of the Day : Cotton T-shirt Dress

Oh yes, feeling a little goofy after all the moving that Derek and I accomplished today. Even though we're only moving across the courtyard from our current place, it's a lot of work and I'll do a jig once we're all done. I hate moving, but bigger kitchen and Tiki room (aka dining room) makes it all worth it.

I took a shower and slipped into one of my favorite types of outfit, a dress, pair of leggings with a pair of boots. I'm calling the dress a 'cotton t-shirt dress' as it's just as comfortable as wearing a t-shirt, it's from H&M's Divided Basic line and I think the price is around $12.95. I love this dress so much that I went out and bought another one, because I can't have just one of these comfy beauties! Speaking of buying things, I'm on a 'no buy' quest this month, it's voluntary task that I bestowed on myself in order to keep better track of my spending. I have been stressed out with all the changes going on (nothing bad!) that I have a tendency to indulge in retail therapy and well, I wanted to nip it in the bud. Shopping is not a cure for stress, so I'm taking my own advice about spending/budgeting. My no buy August is only limited to things that are extras, so items for the move, household items, toiletries, food, gas, etc. are A-OK! Derek says "You don't have to do this", but it's actually grounding me a bit and I've become a lot more focused. Yeah, I'm weird.

Bonus photo with Ice Bat!

Have you ever had a 'no buy' month?

A New Favorite

This dress/tunic is a new favorite to my closet. I spotted it and tried it on last month at H&M, but left without purchasing. Lo and behold, a few weeks later the dress on the clearance rack for $10! It had to be mine! There was a whole rack of these beauties, so I think I was one of the only ones that saw it's true spooky potential. *Wink*

The dress came with an elastic belt that was threaded through slots in the chiffon-like "wings", but one of the snaps ripped off so I went belt-less. I wore a long frankensteined crucifix necklace, slouched socks and little buckle boots-which I'm still trying to find a replacement for!

I wore this to see Swans last night with Derek and I walked out half way through the show. Let's just say I'm a big Swans fan and that's the first time I've ever been so angry about a performance I walked out. They are extremely talented musicians, but I felt like I was seeing a hippie jam band. Oh well, I'll listen to my records instead.
