Help For Chronically Vintage

Hello friends,  I hope everyone has been enjoying their October so far. Before I get into chatting about the outfit, I wanted to share that one of our very own in the blogosphere has experienced a horrific tragedy and I'm sharing with you how you can help. Jessica of Chronically Vintage and her husband Tony have been victims of a house fire caused by arson. There is a donation page and a Facebook page if you want to send them a card or donate anything to help them.

Wearing; ribcage sweater (old, Too Fast Clothing), skater dress (thrifted), black and white striped leggings (old, H&M), velvet choker (old, ???), boots (Dr. Martens)

My heart goes out to Jessica, Tony and her family <3

My Favorite Type Of Outfit

The question is, how many Peter Pan collar items do I need in my closet? The answer, all of them. I totally dig 60s-esque fashion (pinterest inspiration board) and I just can't control myself when I see a little black dress with a white collar.

Wearing; sleeveless black & white collar dress (hottopic.com) with long sleeve t-shirt layered underneath, haunted house cardigan (Hell Bunny via Cats Like US) striped leggings (Sourpuss Clothing), boots (6pm.com).

I've got to give mega props to this little dress, it really comfortable, lightweight and I really love that the neckline is up higher than most of my other Peter Pan collared garments. I'm looking forward to wearing this little dress in the warmer months, as I have a feeling it's going to be a summer favorite.

My favorite type of outfit!!!

Outfit of the Day : Vampira in Stripes

Okay, well Vampira is not literally in stripes...I am! I wore this outfit to work on Saturday and it was my first time wearing the striped vest, I keep telling myself I need to leave this one alone. Hehe! Who am I kidding, I have so many other personal DIY projects to finish first!

I featured the Vampira top by Kreepsville 666 on a past Kitsch Picks, though you can't see the full design, the top reads "Vampira's Ghoul Gang". I love it!

What I'm wearing:
-black & white stripe vest, Sourpuss Clothing
-Vampire top, Kreepsville 666
-skirt, zooshoo.com
-legging, Forever 21
-creepers, Demonia (old)

Derek and I are getting ready to move in the next few weeks, so our apartment is a little chaotic at the moment, but it's a good time to get more organized! I've been looking through the ikea catalog and making lists of organizational opportunities that can be tackled in the new place. I am dreading what lies in the basement storage. Dun, dun, dunnn!!!!

Outfit of the Day : Lace Dress and Stripey Legs

There is a snag in the front, which I fixed after taking the photos. D'oh!

This is an outfit I wore to work last week. I layered a black lace dress ($3, thrifted) over black and white nylon leggings, a ruffled cotton jacket and wore a short pair of buckle boots.

The dress as a little big so I added an elastic belt to give the dress a little more shape, but with that you could see the outline of my bra. Ack! I wore the jacket over the dress the whole day at work, so no bra outlines and/or bra straps were showing, but I think the dress just may be a bit too big for me. I'm brainstorming some ideas on how to alter it to fit me and I think by adding a few nips and tucks it will be a great go-to in my wardrobe.

You know, I really need another little black dress. *Wink*

The Future Is History

On Tuesday Derek and I went to see a really neat exhibit at a local vintage warehouse, the exhibit was called  "The Future is History". The exhibit features themes from the space age (1957-1972) such as; movies, toys, furniture and household items, clothing and design. I'm a huge fan of mid century modern and kitsch, so I was excited to explore the exhibit!

These photos are just a small sample of the exhibit, Derek and I drooled over many of the vintage pieces, especially the vintage bar.

It's really interesting to see that Sputnik started the "space race" and how much it effected popular culture. I think back then everyone looked to the future with optimism, while the (current) modern world looks back to the past to more "simpler" time for comfort. Of course, this can be left to your own interpretation.......

My outfit I wore to the exhibit. I really dig the ruched details on the back of my shirt (Target), which I paired with a black & white mini skirt (ebay), Docs and a hat to cover up my dirty mop. Hehe!

Accessories!!

I hope you enjoyed this little blast from the past -totally intended pun- and thank you for reading!

Shoes! OMG! : Spirit by Rocket Dog

The black and white striped Spirit sandals by Rocket Dog are adorable and the soles look comfy! When I do wear sandals in the warmer months, I tend to choose a flat sole for walking/adventures and a wedge for evening dinners or shows.

What type of sandal do you like to wear?

Shoes! Omg! : Mustache High Heel Shoe

Photobucket
The Mustache High Heel Shoe first caught my interest as I love stripes and when they are black and white stripes, I love them even more! I have to admit I think the mustache on the shoe is a little hokey, yet I do enjoy the mustache design on the liner of the shoe. These heels would definitely be conversation starters and look adorable paired with a little black party dress.

Shoes! OMG! : Black Stripe Mary Janes

My friend Julie Ann posted these beauties to my Facebook wall and I knew I had to share them with you all! The Black Stripe Mary Jane Platform Wedges from Ami Clubwear are giving me the feeling of spring in the air. These beauties definitely aren't for the faint of heart with a 5 1/4 inch platform, but at least they are a wedge which is generally more comfortable to walk in.

I admit, I am swoony for stripes!

Friday Night In Stripes

I have to admit I was feeling pretty good last night when I was getting ready to go to Radiation, Buffalo's once-a-month goth/industrial event. Even though I was pooped out from going out 3 times on our Michigan trip, I love our little scene and seeing all my friends, so I 'gothed up' and went out. I also left the hubby home (he was super duper clubbed out) and took two hot ladies with me to enjoy a night of dancing, conversation, and music! It was especially fun to see some of the old gang from years ago. *Smiles*

What I wore:
Dress: Dem Bones by Lip Service
Corset: Timeless Trends
Striped Blazer: Forever 21 (back patch made by me)
Black leggings: Target
Boots: Megas by Demonia, hand painted spider webs
Hair Bow: by Too Fast, gift from Miss Vanity Kills
Necklace: bone cross made by my husband
Various pins: stolen from my husband, muahahahaaha! I must have all the pins in the house!!!

Thanks to Bed Head Hard Head and a good tease job (giggity) my hair withstood incredibly high winds last night. Wooo! I'm not going to hobble around the house as my body is screaming at me. Oh well, it's always worth it.
;)
