Cvlt Nation : Deathrock Mixtape Part II

Photobucket

I'm excited about the second installment of Oliver Sheppard's Deathrock Mixtape as see on Cvlt Nation. Not only do I think that Cvlt Nation is an awesome online magazine, I think they have pretty rad taste in music! To quote Oliver, "Most of these new bands come from the DIY punk scene and are reclaiming deathrock's punk roots." A-men!

Some other tracks to enjoy:

Shoes! OMG! : Royal Blue Confetti Bow Pumps

Photobucket

Oh so shiny, the Royal Blue Confetti Bow Pumps have me saying, "OH MY GOD SHOES!". Like the description states perfectly, "The perfect way to add a pop of color to your favorite vintage party dress", I wholeheartedly agree! When I see shoes like this it makes me happy to be a girl. *Wink*.

Aloha! : Ohana 2012 Part 2

Photobucket
My Tiki skull mug. One from our vast collection
Alllllllright! Ohana part 2! Did I mention how much rum we drank? A LOT! I'm detoxing this week as I think I may have turned into a partial pineapple (a rum infused one). Friday continued on with the room crawl in the evening in which attendee's volunteer to host a event in their room, basically they make drinks for everyone! Each room may or may not have a theme, yet they mix up tropical libations to share the aloha spirit. Mmmmmmmmmmm! Before we embarked on the slow stumble to the designated rooms, we put on our B.U.T.T fez's!

Photobucket

Ok, what is up with the fez's? Well fez's are something that a lot of people will wear in the Tiki/lounge culture or like the F.O.M who organized the Ohana event. Basically the first Ohana we attended I inquired about how to become part of the F.O.M and was met with a scoff and told that they don't just let anyone join (don't get me wrong they are all really nice people!) Well, as our little Buffalo Tiki group grew we all decided to get fez's and call ourselves, Buffalo United Tiki Talk or B.U.T.T for short.....we're really mature. *Wink*
We're still working on the official design, but it's all in the spirit of humor and well, drinking. Our group gets together now and again and we're planning on taking some more Tiki related trips together, Tiki roadtrip!?

Photobucket
Drunk B.U.T.T's between rooms at the room crawl
One of my personal favorite rooms was the headhunter themed room, I have to admit I don't remember what drink they served or what was really going on as it was 11pm and we had been steadily drinking for almost 12 hours *hiccup*.

Photobucket
Headhunter!!!
They also had an cauldron which was an awesome photo opp, apparently Derek is enjoying being boiled alive. Hahahahaa!!!

Photobucket
I laugh every time I look at this picture!
Did I mention we drank a lot? Well, this girl right here woke up with a slight hangover, yet there is no time to lay in bed all day at Ohana! Perhaps a lot of coffee, a starchy breakfast and some hair of the dog helped me to bounce back! Saturday afternoon was filled with; shopping at the vendor tent, silent auction, (insert a nap), making friends (I met Deidre and Andy from Sourpuss and they are AWESOME!), and swimming. In the evening all the B.U.T.T's changed into our matching outfits for the luau dinner and Polynesian show.

Looks like I pee'd myself with excitement

Get Into The Groove : 80s Night!

With a healing leg tattoo and it being hot as shit outside, I was having a wardrobe dilemma on how to dress for the 80s night I attended in our neighboring city Rochester, NY. After trying on all my "slutty" skirts (which I affectionately call my short skirts), I realized they were not quite slutty errrr, I mean short enough for a night of dancing. I forced myself to go shopping last minute at the mall and came home with shorts. The thought of  walking around all night in shorts with bare legs sorta makes me cringe. I don't know why I like to be so covered up, but some sort of leg covering is a must for me, especially to prevent boot chaffage. Perhaps it's an added layer of defense against club germs, or I just think it looks aesthetically pleasing. So, I came up with this solution:

Photobucket

Not my most favorite outfit in the world, but shorts are comfortable for dancing the night away to 80s classics.I think the next time I wear these shorts I'll throw on my elastic garter straps to break up the leg line when I'm pairing the shorts with my short pointy boots. I'm sure the look will grow on me, but I think it needs some fine tuning. I'm also insane and pretty much didn't take my jacket off the whole night. I know I'm a dedicated jack-a-holic and I do suffer for fashion!

Move Over Fuck Yeah Punk Jackets : James von Sinn

Photobucket
Original artwork by James von Sinn
I'm super stoked that I got to catch up with my friend James and photograph his vest and jacket collection. I'm always impressed when my friends put so much effort, talent and creativity into adorning their clothing, so I took my obsession and will be kicking off a small series documenting DIY fashion all around me. Starting in 3...2....1......James!

Shoe! OMG! : Copper Flock Leopard Boots

Photobucket

I am a huge fan of T.U.K shoes and boots. Not only have a owned several pairs of T.U.K's over the years, I have also had the pleasure of working with them as a stylist and writer. This week's pick are the Copper Flock Leopard Boots, which I would LOVE to have for my own collection! "But, Meagan it's too warm over here on the East Coast for boots". Pfffffffft, you're talking to a girl who's summer footwear includes a pair of cowboy boots, no fashion rules over here!!!!

Casual Post : Shoppin' In Shorts

Photobucket

As my friend Julie Ann pointed out, "You've been very leggy lately". This has been the first year in.....well, many years that I have wanted to wear shorts. I think it has to do with having more leg tattoos or most likely I just don't care any more. Don't like my grave yard tan?.....don't look!
Photobucket

The light weight moto style jacket has been featured in past looks, but I wanted to show my Cure back patch that was given to me by a friend. I have a project in the works to feature my friends DIY jacket's as we all know I sorta have a slight obsession with jackets. *Wink* Of course this means I have to wrangle my friends and remember to shoot these photos I'm dreaming about in my head, hahahaha! In the mean time you can feast your eyes on Fuck Yeah Punk Jackets tumblr!

Pre-Deco Fest : Swingin' With The Royal Crowns

I missed out on wrapping up Sophistique Noir's Red and Black week as I was running around with Miss Dolly getting ready for The Royal Crowns cd release party which was paired up with a pre-party for Deco Fest. Deco Fest is a fundraiser to bring the Central Terminal of Buffalo, NY up to it's former glory. It was a huge effort done by Miss Dolly and her husband Jason (who is the bass player of The Royal Crowns) to put on the pre-party, arrange all the vendors, swing dance, etc. They did an amazing job! I had a lot of fun and even spun around the dance floor with the husband! We aren't excellent dancers, but we laugh a lot and have fun.

I got my nose pierced!

Where did my hair go?! I pulled the front of my hair up and back into a pomp, secured with bobby pins. I teased the rest up and back, (I highly recommend teasing (back combing) your hair to give your hair some body no matter what the hair style) tied the scarf into a bow, then arranged my hair around the scarf. I have a little 80s look going on, a la Madonna. *Wink*

Red and Black Week : I'm a Stupor Model!

I have been known to step in front of the camera over the last few years, though I don't consider myself a model by any means, yet it's fun to have these memento's. I am a stylist and I love to be behind the scenes, yet I'm always flattered when my photographer friends ask me to take center stage and try to act serious while getting my picture snapped. I'm a huge goof ball, yet they do their magic and make me look good! These photos have been taken over the past few years, different hair styles and less tattoos!

Alright, now that you're sick of looking at my face, I am very honored to have worked with so many talented people behind and in front of the camera! Though some of them may be a little far-fetched for Red and Black Theme Week, those colors are in there somewhere! Thanks for reading!

Red and Black Week Continues! Now With MORE Red!

How did I forget about this red moto style jacket that I often wear?! Silly me and my jacket collection, I often forget about what I have even though it's right in front of my face! Well, it was hanging in the coat closet, hehe!

Photobucket

I found the jacket (Tripp NYC) at a local thrift store that I am often see sneaking around for $5 and I also got the zebra print summer dress for $4. I was excited when I found the jacket as I have the same style in black that I purchased brand new several years ago for $60! Grant it, I will admit it was worth every penny as I wear the jacket all the time. I do highly recommend Tripp NYC's moto style jackets as they are comfortable, made of a durable twill cotton and can easily be DIY-ed to suit your taste. Besides, they look cool! You may be making a face at me because I mentioned Tripp NYC as their items are often seen at Hot Topic, yet if you look at places like Trash and Vaudeville, you'll see it's not all weird pants with too many bells and whistles. I gravitate more towards the more sleek and simple pieces as I'm not into too many jiggle jangles on my clothing....unless I put them there. *Wink*

City Bag by Dungaree Dolly-print is not available

I always forget about my purses! I have so many pretty ones from Dungaree Dolly as this is the normal way I infuse some color/patterns into my outfits. In my world it's all about accessorizing, handbags and shoes!

Red and Black Stripes!

It's day 3 of Sophistique Noir's Black and Red Theme Week, yet it's my second posting. I'm a little iffy on the red and black striped top I am wearing in the photos. I have worn it a hand full of times, yet I think the top combined with the stripes make me look larger than I am. I usually wear the top with a black wide belt to break up the top and add more structured lines to sorta trick the eye. What can I say, I always like to add MORE black. I'm pretty sure it's the two black vertical details that make the top just look odd on me, yet make my boobs look larger, which is a bonus. *Wink*
Photobucket
Plain outfit with no accessories.

Photobucket
Accessorize!
I think the black underbust corset looks soooooo much better paired with the top! Of course I always pile on the accessories and am wearing my new bondage belt that was purchased at Trash and Vaudeville. I'm still on the fence about the look as a whole, it's just a weird top that has potential, so I've kept it!

Happy Red and Black Theme Week, stay tuned!

Sophistique Noir : Black and Red Theme Week!

What's black and red all over? Sophistique Noir's Black and Red Theme Week which is June 3rd-8th, so I'm a tiny bit late! *Wink* Red happens to be my favorite color, yet when I look in my closet I don't see too much red! While I'm digging around in (what I like to call) the black vortex, I wanted to share some photo highlights of 2011, my year with red hair....and of course wearing black!
