Pizza Sweater

I want to start by saying thank you for everyone for your kind words about Derek's Nana's passing, your sweet words and condolences mean a lot. We've been home since last Wednesday and enjoyed a quiet Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I've already packed up kitschmas and am happy to have the house back to 'normal'.

On Thursday I wore the pizza sweater I got to wear on my birthday as our friend's Danielle and Mike were taking me out for gluten free pizza and I wanted to dress in theme. I love pizza A LOT and now that I am gluten free, it takes a lot of the fun out of spontaneously going to grab a slice, but luckily there are some restaurants offer GF options. Though we didn't get to go out due our family emergency (which is much more important than pizza), I did get to wear my sweater while enjoying a frozen pizza and wine. Hehe!

Wearing: pizza sweater (Killstar), jeans (I haven't been able to fit into for a year until now. Yay!), Dr. Martens (old, ebay), collared shirt (thrift).

I just can't be in a bad mood while wearing a pizza sweater, especially one that is black and white. Hehehe!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday(s) however you celebrate!!!

Thank you for reading, until next time!

(Not Such a) Happy Birthday

My birthday was the 19th and I turned 36, which doesn't bother me in the slightest. I got this gorgeous necklace from Derek by Purgatory Plaything. I own a few of her pieces, so I'm excited to add this one to the collection!

So, why wasn't my birthday not so happy? Well, Derek's grandmother was dying. We found out late last week that she was gravely ill and didn't have much time, but when we found out this information, his parents told us not to worry about making the trip as time was running out. Well Nana (as they all call her), held on for quite a few days and there was some hope that she may rally and still live. Well, we got the call on Sunday evening to come and say goodbye, so I scrabbled around to get last minute flights for Monday to get us to Virginia.

Needless to say it was sad. A woman who was so healthy and vibrant two months ago when we surprised her with a visit, was lying there lifeless looking like she was 100. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving sons and family. I'm glad we went, as I know it was good for Derek and the rest of his family, especially his Father. I loved Nana like she was my own Grandmother. She welcomed me with one arms into her close knit family and would always hold my hand and tell me, "I'm so glad you (Derek and I) found each other."

So, I now share my birthday with Nana's passing, but (as her family believes), it was her new birthday joining God.

I'm so ready to say goodbye to 2016

New Romantic

Julie Ann had hipped me to a documentary about the 80s band Spandeau Ballet that is on Netflix instant watch called, Soul Boys of the Western World. Naturally I had to check it out as I love 80s music and I am a lover of documentary's. This one did not disappoint! I have been reading a book about post punk music and the New Romantic's are included in some of the band's history's, so it was neat to learn more about Spandeau Ballet as I did not realize how hugely popular they were and are still today!

I was inspired by the band's early clothing and wanted to wear something ruffley (but warm) and choose my beret, as hats and accessories were very big for the New Romantics. Oh the fashion! How I love the fashion!

Wearing; white/black ruffle shirt (old, Lip Service), oversize cardigan (thrift), velvet beret (estate sale, vintage) earrings (80s, thrift), pins (Last Craft), jeggings (Target), pointed boots (Nasty Gal)

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Thank you for reading, until next time

Velvet, Lace and Stripes

We went to our friend Lauren's salon/barbershop opening last night, so I opted to wear velvet and lace with my Killstar "So Goth I'm Dead" as an added touch of goth kitsch. So many people laughed when they saw the bag and said it was perfect for me.  I had to add that Derek gifted it to me as we think it's extremely humorous, since it has been a phrase we have both been using for years.

Wearing; lace dress (H&M), velvet dress coat (vintage, thrifted), cross belt (old, Forever 21), winklepickers (London Underground, thrifted), spider brooch I wore on my wedding dress

Not only is Derek's suit pretty amazing, his Fluevog shoes (that I encouraged him to buy) are amazing!!!! They are the Duckie shoes inspired by the amazing Duckie Dale character in Pretty in Pink. We encourage each other to be over-the-top with our fashion choices. Hehehe!

I snapped this photo earlier in the day before we headed out to run some errands and go to some thrift stores. I am so glad that we went out yesterday as I found a part for the gift I am making for Derek for Yule. I have to mention on cross bone necklaces are from Purgatory Plaything. When we both wear them, we have been asked, "Does that stand for something?". Answer: we REALLY like bones. *Wink*

Bad photo, good outfit.

Wearing; striped sweater (thrifted), 80s skirt (thrifted), boots (Dr. Martens via ebay), bat belt (gift from Derek via ebay), ankh earrings (ebay), bone necklace (Purgatory Plaything), blue sandstone crystal necklace (flea market).

I hope everyone is well! Thank you for reading, until next time!!!

Walking Around in a Daze

Yesterday was a terrible for all of America....and the world. I always knew the system was totally fucked, but it goes to show the true colors of my country and it disgusts me. I pretty much keep my mouth shut when it comes to expressing certain opinions online, but I can't help to express my overwhelming fear as a woman, supporter of the LGBTQ community and believer that all people of any race and religion should all be treated equally with dignity and respect. I have lost a lot of my hope, but I will continue to support my community and continue to fight.

November Greetings

Hello friends! Phew, it's been a crazy few weeks and now with Halloween past (which in my mind it's NEVER over), I have to start thinking ahead to the holidays. I know, I know *groan*. I'm not talking about Yule, I'm talking about Thanksgiving and all the plans we have with friends and our family. I feel like November is going to be over in the blink of an eye and I'll be left dumbfounded like I am very year.

The other thing that has been crazy busy is my etsy shop as well as I've been off on buying adventures with my husband and friend Jodee. Actually, Jodee snapped a photo of me while at an estate sale this weekend. I LOVE the room dividers that were in the basement as I love vintage kitsch and tacky decor, plus I love the colors. Cool part of my outfit (photo above) was that I am wearing the velvet beret and silver chain necklace from the previous week's second hand finds. I have been looking for a velvet beret and you can't beat 'fill a bag for $5', so the hat came home with some other friends. Hahaha!!!

I have to have a lot of self control when I'm estate sales, rummage sales, thrift shops, etc., as our house would look like an episode of Hoarders. So, I try and keep things to a minimum even when things are just a .25 cents or even free, but I couldn't resist gold lurex knit gloves for $1, because I can wear them with my velvet coats. Hehehe!!! Yes, I like gold in certain situations, especially when they are items from the Victorian Era, or 60s/70s. Oh lurex, I love you, but you itch like CRAZY!!!

I hope to get back into some sort of regular blogging routine, but as you all know life is not always predictable...which I'm also okay with!

Thank you for reading, until next time!!!

PS-I wanted to thank everyone for their lovely comments on my Halloween post, I haven't been able to respond, but they are much appreciated!! <3

Happy Halloween!

As you know we're a little 'batty' for Halloween! Hahaha! These were our costumes yesterday as we were ready to hand out candy to the trick or treats (we had to leave the bowl out, since no kids showed up) and then went to a party.

On Saturday we went to a Samhaim party and we were so wrapped up in our other costumes, we forgot to plan one for the party! I just sorta 'went with it' and did a goth look that turned out to be very Monica Richards-esque.

I am wearing a lace top that was from a clothing swap, Restyle dress that I bought last year which had to be chopped down into a skirt (their size chart was VERY wrong and I was VERY upset about it), sleeves are by Rose Mortem (Derek won them for me at an auction/benefit event), head piece is a necklace, rose crown by Bling Beauty Boutique, wig is something I've had for a few years.

Yeah, I was dressed as a goth, but felt very ethereal and it was nice to dress and have the outfit evolve....and use items I've never worn. Unfortunately I didn't get a better photo of the really nice lace neck ruffle I was wearing. Oh well.

Derek the Undertaker was my date <3

And then for something completely different! Presenting Pizza Princess and her husband King Candy Corn. These are the costumes we wore for a swing dance a few Sunday's ago. We dressed as some of our favorite foods and just created characters from some clothing we had, which served as our base to our imagination.

Derek painted his jacket (thrift store), sculpted the details on his crown, my crown, my necklace and earrings, along with my pizza scepter and his cane. I added felt pizza's (hat I made) to the thrifted dress, along with dingle balls and ribbon. I'm really, REALLY good at making little pizzas. Haha!

Sadly it's Novemver 1st and we're going to try and find some after Halloween deals, but I know it's going to all be Christmas and.......yeah, I'm not ready for that. TOO EARLY!!!

How was your Halloween? Did you get a chance to dress up?

Thank you for reading, until next time!!!

A Bat Bow, a Witch and Two Outfits

Hello friends! You've already seen this sweater a few weeks ago, but it's too cute to not want to style and wear it a variety of ways. I generally don't gravitate towards pullover style sweaters, yet I seemed to have acquired a few over this past year.

The bat headband was an impulse buy while ordering some pants from H&M. I could have made the headband myself and I wish I had, as the headband squeezes my will to live.....and my head. I'm hoping I slip off the bow and put it on a headband that is more comfortable.

The bow is still super fun to wear!

Wearing; sweater (Too Fast Clothing), Peter Pan collar shirt (Vintage Galeria), bat bow headband (H&M), pants (H&M), winklepicker shoes (thrifted)

Say hello to our newest blow mold addition, Miss Witchy Poo! I was so excited when the owner of the antique store across from work was kind enough to sell me his precious vintage witch. We collect blow molds (especially Halloween ones) and I've only seen this particular witch online and one or two house's lawns during the Halloween season. Side note-Derek and I like to play spot the blow mold. Hehe! We are both excited to have her and to be able to enjoy her for many years to come. :)

And the outfit, Though I wouldn't use the fashion term, "witchy", to describe my ensemble, yet it was certainly comfy! I dug out my little mini fedora hat in order to tame my mane, which I plopped on my head as a last minute outfit accessory. We were leaving the house to do some thrift shopping and I like to have my hair out of my face, so it dawned on me that I had been neglecting my hats.

Wearing; little fedora (old, TJ Maxx), oversize button down shirt (old, Forever 21), long sweater and black crushed velvet leggings (H&M), burgundy boots (6pm.com), bat necklace (old, eBay), bone necklace (Purgatory Plaything), pewter bone hoops (Martha Rotten).

I can't believe Halloween is only 6 days away. Crazy! We went to one Halloween party on Sunday and have costumes planned for a party on Halloween day, but I'm realizing I should dress up for the two parties we have this coming weekend. Time to dive into the costume boxes!

Are you going to any Halloween parties?

Thank you for reading, until next time!

It's Sweater Weather!

I am happy that I get to dive into my sweater collection, we've been having the weirdest Autumn so far and from day-to-day I have to double and triple check the weather channel in order plan on how I should dress. Last week we had a very rainy and cold days, which made me happy since I could wear my leather jacket. Hehe!

Wearing; sweater (old style, Sourpuss Clothing), dress (TOBI clothing), leggings (Carousel Ink), boots (6pm.com) earrings and necklace (thrifted)

The dress was the last one featured in my blog post about TOBI clothing and it's proving to be a wonderful dress for layering. They still have the dress on their website and it still gets two thumbs up from me!

When we got this cardigan in at work (last year), I thought that I didn't need it, but then I realized I was crazy. Of course I need a sweater with coffins on it, it's part of the name of my blog, I have many coffins tattooed on me (including my chest) and I LOVE coffins.

Wearing; coffin sweater (Hell Bunny), stripe top (thrifted), skirt (eshakti), boots (6pm.com), spider necklace (Pier 1), coffin bead earrings (Sourpuss Clothing), and eyeball fascinator (hat=made by me, eyeball=made by Derek).

Speaking of coffins, I was very happy to now to wearing my Mordaunte's coffin gem ring that was a 5 year anniversary gift from Derek. I hate to say that it sat in the box for 2 years before I realized that it does fit my right ring finger. When Derek first gave it to me, we thought it was too small and need sizing, well I finally took it to a jeweler to only realize that we were wrong and I've been now happily wearing it everyday! Shout out to Sharon (Goth Gardening) for inspiring me to finally take my ring to a jeweler after seeing her amazing Instagram post about her Mordaunte ring along with another gorgeous cameo ring. Thank you dear!!!

Thank you for reading, until next time!

Jack-o-Lantern Knees

I saw these jack-o-lantern face tights at Spirit (Halloween store) for $5 and I couldn't resist! I think they are so incredibly cute and they are just perfect for the Halloween season. I've been finding myself wanting to add some stockings to my collection, because they are an inexpensive way to freshen up the wardrobe.

Wearing; lace dress (thrifted), black I always wear, tights (Spirit Store), spiked creepers (TUK Shoes), bone velvet bow (DIY), necklace (etsy), pewter bone earrings (Martha Rotten), beaded bracelets (thrifted)

I've been doing really well with my 'wear everything' campaign and have been rediscovering how to wear pieces. I still shake my head at my past self for putting this little lace dress in the donation pile for being slightly too big. Now I have to stop myself from wearing it everyday and wish I could clone this cut into different fabrics. Oh silly me!

Do you have a favorite piece in your closet that you wish you could clone?

Thank you for reading, until next time!

Help For Chronically Vintage

Hello friends,  I hope everyone has been enjoying their October so far. Before I get into chatting about the outfit, I wanted to share that one of our very own in the blogosphere has experienced a horrific tragedy and I'm sharing with you how you can help. Jessica of Chronically Vintage and her husband Tony have been victims of a house fire caused by arson. There is a donation page and a Facebook page if you want to send them a card or donate anything to help them.

Wearing; ribcage sweater (old, Too Fast Clothing), skater dress (thrifted), black and white striped leggings (old, H&M), velvet choker (old, ???), boots (Dr. Martens)

My heart goes out to Jessica, Tony and her family <3
