The Munsters and the Vampiress Bat Skirt

+Lily Munster t-shirt: Rock Rebel +Vampiress Bat Skirt: Hell Bunny
+80s earrings: vintage +zebra creepers: MIA

I'm wearing something with a bats on it, are you surprised?! Haha! Off to work I go!

The Vampiress Bat skirt by Hell Bunny is so full and twirly featuring bats that are also pockets!

If you've been eyeing the Vampiress collection from Hell Bunny, I recommend both the swing dress and swing skirt! Pay close attention to sizing as Hell Bunny can be generous...which is nice! Always know your measurements as it makes online shopping that much less frustrating!

The Last Beat of My Heart : Crimson Scarlet

Last week Monday I was pretty excited to have been able to see Crimson Scarlet at a show in our neighboring city, Rochester, NY. I loved going to a show and seeing all the punks dance to Crimson Scarlet's goth punk sound.

I picked up their latest record at the show, but you can find them here.

Thanks for reading and listening!

Now in Purple

Yep, I switched up the hair color to purple. My hair is a bit of a "work in progress" seeing as I'm going from permanent red and switching to a semi-permanent (vegetable based) hair color, so the red is still peeking through since I don't want to kill my hair with bleach. Step by step. *Wink* I did love my red hair, but it was ready for a change as I seem to like to do from year to year.

My best friend Melanie took a candid shot of Derek and I. We were
at one of our old haunts (Mohawk Place) which reopened.

Have you ever dyed your hair purple? If so, what brand do you like best?

Bugs!

I realize my blogging game has been off. Thursday came and went as I've been busier with work and life in general, but I haven't forgotten about my lovely readers! A thought popped into my head that in December it will be three years of blogging! Say what?! Time really does fly and it seems to always blow my mind that it all seems to just happen in the blink of an eye...or eyes.

+creepy crawly critters shirt: Jawbreaker +skirt: Steady Clothing
+lace stockings: Leg Avenue +studded belt : thrifted

The Creepy Crawly Critters top has a Western sort of vibe to it with the lace yoke, so I decided to play it up by wearing my cowboy boots. I am a big fan of Western styles such as ribbon and bolo ties, cowboy shirts, boots straps, concho details, etc. Those dark and dusty cowboys always seems to give me a bit of a chill. *Cough cough Carl McCoy cough cough*

I can honestly say I'm not a huge fan of bugs. I do find them interesting in the the 'hey look at this specimen' sort of way, yet if they stay over there and I'm over here, we can be good friends. I do like looking at spiders (when they aren't biting me), yet I'll run away screaming from a butterfly. I hate butterflies! I'm not saying this in the 'OMG I'm so dark' sort of way, but I think I was traumatized by a particular trip to the butterfly conservatory. Dun, dun, dunnnnnnnnnn!

What are your opinions on bugs?

A Peter Pan Collar and Bats....All Over!

I'm finally starting to feel human again....sorta. I was feeling pretty cute in this ensemble which was worn to work. Since the weather has drastically taken a turn (starting to feel like Autumn!), I was happy to wear the Sourpuss Clothing bat cardigan with the darling peter collar Abigail dress and crossbone YRU loafers that I got for a steal on eBay. I also couldn't resist wearing a pair of spider web tights, because..well why not?! Hehe!

I couldn't find the bat cardigan on Sourpuss' website. Booo, must
be sold out!

We always joke that there are two seasons in our house, Tiki and Halloween-even though we never stop having both on our mind- and we're excited to see all the Halloween goodies and treats that make our wallets cry candy corn tears. I am in need of some hand towels, so this is the time of the year that I stock up since I use Halloween-themed items all year round!

PS-Check out my work and their Halloween Boo-tique, so many awesome treats!

Allergies of Dooooom

I've been suffering from some crazy allergy/sinus issues, like my eyes swelling thus making me look like a watery-eyed frog. Ribbit. Ribbit. So, I'm taking a little break from any outfit posts and I'm fixing the 'shop my closet' page which was working fine until the "buy it now" links decided to stop working. Blargh. Last week was a little rough to say the least.

Happy Sunday everyone! Now I'm back to blowing my schnoz while my husband looks at me with both horror and concern. He's a lucky duck, no allergy issues for him.

Kitsch Picks : Anatomical Heart Vase

My jaw dropped when I saw this Anatomical Heart Vase by Dellamorte & Co. I am a huge fan of Michael Locascio's art ever since I featured him on the blog and ordered Derek's Yule gift last year. Gorgeous, gorgeous work!

Aloha Weekend!

+barkcloth shift dress: vintage +bangles, necklace, earrings: vintage
+hand carved wooden purse: DeTiki

With Saturday being National Mai Tai day and Sunday was a luau party at our friend's house, it was a Tiki weekend! I can never pass up a chance when I can wear one of my beloved barkcloth dresses and this blue one is making its first appearance!

I didn't have anything with these colors, so when I spotted this beauty at our wonderful local vintage store (Miss Josie's) I snatched it up. I used my trusty sewing machine to take in the armpits by an inch to give it a better fit and shape. I generally don't wear 60s shift dresses, but I think I am now digging this silhouette on me!

My earrings are massive and I couldn't pass them up for only $2.00. Hey, it doesn't cost that much to look this tacky. *Wink* Not pictured : my blue eyeshadow that Derek said was a perfect compliment to the blue on my dress.

Speaking of Derek, here's my main guy proudly wearing his Lava-Lava. His what? A lava-lava is a traditional garment worn by Polynesian peoples that consists of a piece of fabric wrap and rolled at the waist. Here's a little more about a Lava-Lava.

+shirt: vintage +lava-lava : Fashion Tramp

Today is Labor Day which means most Americans are bbq-ing and celebrating 'the last day of summer', even though the Autumnal Equinox is not until September 23rd this year. *Shrugs* It's just another typical Monday off for Derek and myself, but Happy Labor Day USA!
