Outfit of the Day : Jack-o-Lantern Fun

vintage bow belt from Julie Ann

I was digging through my t-shirts and I forgot about this jack-o-lantern t-shirt that I picked up a few years ago from Target. I figured it was the perfect shirt to wear to work to get into the Halloween spirit. It was definitely fun to wear a little orange!

I'm always trying to find different ways to wear my plethora of t-shirts and my latest favorite styling is wearing the t-shirts tucked into a higher waist skirt. This particular skirt was chopped from a dress, which also seems to be becoming a trend in my world. I find if the dress has a nice waist seam and with the help of some scissors, elastic and sewing machine, it can be transformed into a skirt! I figured this method out through some trial and error, haha!

Now I'm going to go eat a bowl of Count Chocula and freak out from the sugar rush. Ahhh, adult life.

Outfit of the Day : Spiders and Stripes

It's been a crazy ending to last week and all of this week...and it's only just the beginning of the weekend! I went to a very fun wedding last Saturday, went to see some great bands on Wednesday, and I've been helping out a friend, so I feel like I haven't been able to catch my breath. I also just realized October is almost over, how the heck did that happen!? I need to get my butt moving on my Halloween costume!

I bought another hat, I have a problem. I realize this one looks exactly like my other wide brim pork pie style hat I have sported in other outfit posts, but this one is made of felt and it's more wintery and the brim is much smaller. Yes, this is how I am justifying my purchase. Haha!

I picked this hat up for $12.50 at Forever 21 when I was waiting for Derek while he was at the Apple Store (he was dealing with a laptop issue that was been on-going for 1 1/2 months, needless to say I'm happy it's fixed....properly), so I just had to take a look around the store. All I have to say is that the 90s are back....with a vengeance!

My sweater is from work and since I'm surrounded by all these wonderfully spooky cardigans, I just had to pick one up to add to the mounting pile of my black cardigan addiction. The cardigan is the Black Widow Cardigan by Sourpuss Clothing, I am wearing a small which buttons up nicely on me and I really like the material. It seems like Sourpuss is improving on their cardigans, which pleases me greatly.

What I am wearing:
-dress, random mall store
-leggings, H&M
-cardigan, Sourpuss Clothing
-white belt, H&M
-hat, Forever 21
-cowboy boots, ZiGiny
-boots straps, eBay

Halloween Fashions 2013

Coffin Kitsch : Halloween Fashion 2013

I do a lot of 'window shopping' online from fast fashion U.S stores like Forever 21 to U.K based shops like Top Shop and Halloween is definitely trending this season. I have to admit a lot of these items I picked are quite cute, but some of the prices I'm seeing for other items made me look twice. What the?

Have you spotted any Halloween fashions you adore?

Outfit of the Day : Lucy Fur Leggings

I was so excited that I received my Lucy Fur Leggings from Sourpuss Clothing. For some reason the shipping took almost two weeks, so I was a little worried that the package got lost, but it was totally worth the wait....I love these leggings!

I was doing a happy dork dance before I went to work on Friday, as the leggings are not only cute, but they are super stretchy and comfy. My only complaint is that the waist elastic band gets easily twisted and I should have ordered a smaller size. Oh vintage Halloween print, how I love thee!

What I'm wearing:
-dress, Forever 21
-sweater, Cartel Ink
-leggings, Sourpuss Clothing
-creepers, T.U.K Shoes

Have a great weekend, thank you for reading!

Halloween Cocktail Party!

This weekend was Jenny and Mike's Halloween cocktail party, so it was a great opportunity to wear my new Hell Bunny dress!

I was going to change the halter straps into regular style over-the-shoulder straps, but it looked awful and made the bust line look awkward. I just need to suck it up and enjoy the dress as-is....or until I figure something else out. *Wink*

What I'm wearing:
-dress, Seth Dress Hell Bunny
-boots, vintage from etsy
-assorted jewelry

Are you attending any Halloween festivities?

Happy 4th Wedding Anniversary to Us

Yesterday was our fourth wedding anniversary and we both commented on how time has flown by. We got married on a chilly night on October 11, 2009 at The Lodge (an old Masonic Hall) with 55 of our closest friends and family. We had a 'creepy cocktail' with hor d'oeuvres, cocktails and a very short and sweet ceremony. It was a wonderful evening indeed and we did it our way.

-My dress, Bettie Page Clothing ($99!)
-hat, Hey Sailor!
-Derek wore a western style suit with his Fluevog boots

Cupcake stand and cupcakes made by our talented friend Leslie.

A lot of our wedding was DIY, I didn't have fresh flowers or lots of decor as the Washington Room at The Lodge was quite regal with its marble pillars, high ceilings and amazing dark woodwork. One thing I do regret is not hiring a professional photographer (we were on a tight budget) to capture the day, but I have a lot of great candid shots that I hold dear to me.

Ahhh memories! Thank you for letting me share a few tidbits about our special day. Back to anniversary talk, we celebrated with going to Tandoori's a favorite Indian restaurant of ours, it was delicious and full of great conversation.

Derek got me a Martha Rotten piece that he picked out and I got him an Alchemy Gothic bat necklace. Yes, the necklace is a chicken foot cast out of pewter with the amazing cast bone closure. In Voodoo, a chicken foot is used for protection and believe to be powerful against evil-doer and are believe to work by magically "scratching" one's enemy. I'm not a practitioner of Voodoo, but I am an avid learner of spiritualism in all its forms.

This piece is AMAZING, I am so happy to now own a Martha Rotten piece from my husband who's so thoughtful and knows how to adorn his lady in chicken feets. Haha!

Shoes! OMG! : Pointy Knee High Boots

There is no real formal name for these boots, but I wanted to share these pointy knee high boots that I purchased from eBay on a total whim. I was searching for a replacement to my pointed ankle buckle boots (that are headed for the trash *very sadface*) and came across these sorta ugly-sorta awesome boots. I didn't have any high expectations of my impulse buy, but I was pleasantly surprised. They are definitely cheap at a total price of $21.99, but they are comfortable and fun to wear!

I bought these boots in a size 7.5 which fit nicely, but for anyone with a thicker leg or ankle, these will not work for you. If these boots tempt you, check out the seller pan-shoes to see if they have your size in stock.

I figured I would throw a outfit of the day in with this week's Shoes! OMG!, since I'm smitten with this Newport News dress that I just thrifted.

This dress is oh-so-cotton soft and though the fit is a little loose, it still makes for an effortless look. Heck, this dress might even be loungewear, I don't care as it's too pretty to just wear around the house. I love the neckline which is mimicked in the back and the three quarter sleeve is perfect for this in-between weather we've been having. I think I have a new favorite dress!

What I'm wearing:
-dress, Newport News (thrift store)
-boots, eBay
-hip belt (old), Target
-stretch studded bracelets (old), Forever 21

Have you ever bought boots and/or shoes on a whim and were pleasantly surprised?

Outfit of the Day : Red Skull Dress

After quite a few days of not feeling well, I slipped on my new red skull dress by Folter Clothing and it instantly put a smile on my face! This cotton dress is so comfortable and the length is just perfect!

I love cute novelty print dresses, but I tend to shy away unless it's a print I can live with...and these lovely big skulls had to be mine. Then again if something is covered in bats I tend to run to it, hug it and want it and love it forever and ever!

Derek and I went out for a drink and he commented, "Oh, is that dress new?!". He liked it. :)

What I'm wearing:
-sweater, c/o Sourpuss Clothing
-dress, Folter Clothing
-patent waist belt, similar
-black leggings
-boots, Dr. Martens
-necklace by Classic Hardware, similar

Zach Rose Photography

It was a beautiful evening!

I am always flattered when my oh-so-talented friends ask me to be a subject for their art projects! My friend Zach Rose started this on-going project that is has affectionately named "Goths in Nature", I love it!

I decided to wear this Catherine Coatney vintage cross lace front dress that I got ($20 bucks) from Ebay. It's probably the most scandalous thing you'll see me wear and I'm covered up! Haha!

As always, it's fun to shoot with Zach whether I'm in front of the camera or behind the scenes as the stylist. He gave me a great compliment and told me I was "very photogenic", which makes this worry wart of a 'model' feel pretty good about herself.

This is another awesomely creepy photo that Zach shot last summer on his vintage Graflex Speed Graphic camera. The film was old and expired which gives the image that hauntingly old effect.

I am wearing a vintage cape in 80 degree weather and it was so worth it! We shot this in Forrest Lawn Cemetery, which is one of my most favorite places in Buffalo.

Please check out Zach Rose's awesome talent at the links below:

Whites Shoes, are you crazy?! The answer is yes, BUT these Batty Canvas Loafers are just too awesome and I had to share. I actually really love white shoes, yet I think (knowing me) I would spill my coffee on my shoes and stain them. D'oh!
