Skulls and Polka Dots

My uneven sleeves aren't a fashion statement, I am healing a fresh Calla Lily flower tattoo on my right arm (with After Inked!) It's an odd feeling seeing as I haven't had my arms tattooed in a very long time, but it's neat to see my arm art evolve throughout the years.

Calla Lilies are my favorite flower and it fits nicely into my Memento Mori imagery, like the shrouded urn on my wrist. Derek does such an amazing job and I am always grateful to him, yet he's the one who is always flattered that I want him to tattoo me! Of course, his artwork is beautiful, he's so talented and he always knows what I like!

+polka dot top: thrift +cardigan: from friend +creepers: eBay
+skull earrings, skull necklace & skull rose brooch: Kreepsville 666

So, I had to dress for work around a healing tattoo and decided on polka dots and a whole lot of skulls! I feel like the skull earrings and necklace are the equivalent to a creepy version of a classic pearl set. Hehe!

Trailer Trash Leggings by Sourpuss Clothing

When I first saw these leggings in the Sourpuss Clothing catalog, I knew they belonged on my legs. Green astro turf background with trailers, pink flamingos, hula men and women, and other glorious kitsch! Oh yes! I snatched these leggings from eBay as Sourpuss has been selling some sample pieces for great prices.

(Also pictured: giant piles of snow outside)

I'm dorking it up in my fuzzy house slippers, with minimal makeup and wearing one of my goth sack sweaters that I love. This is a standard outfit for non-work days, oversized something, leggings and slouch socks. I'm extra fancy since I got a hair trim! Wooo hooo!

I can't be unhappy wearing these leggings!

Layered and Drapey

Velvety wide leg pants, buckle knit sweater, asymmetrical dress, buckle boots.

I reached into the closet and pulled out these pieces and threw them on. Much to my surprise the layering worked and it's very comfy with lots of texture.

Racerback dress is a little bit and needs a tank underneath.

Skin exposure just feels nice, but odd at this time of the year. As a side note, I'm getting some tattoo work done on Monday. so I'm looking forward to spending time in the chair with my hubby. The gap on my forearm will be filled with something like a calla lily or bones or possibly both.

I hope you're enjoying your weekend.

Turban

Once upon a time I was searching for a gold turban to wear to a Tiki event and when I mentioned my mission to my friend James (who also owns Miss Josie's vintage clothing), he gifted me with this black turban. Though it wasn't gold, it was perfect and seeing how it came from a drag performer, it made it even that much more awesome!

So, I remembered I had the turban and it was my easy solution to the, 'I don't feel like doing my hair' mood I was in on Friday. I'm also wearing many, many layers, including my faux leather vest that looks nice paired with my knit fly-way cardigan.

Whom ever says dressing in all black can be boring didn't realize black comes in a lot of textures, and it's great to mash them all together. Crushed velvet, lace, faux leather, knits, sheer, etc. etc.

What are you favorite textures and how do you like to pair them together?

Rhinestone Skeleton

I feel like a broken record talking about the cold weather, but then again it's all around me and constantly on everyone's lips. I hate to be so melancholy as I'm usually a pretty upbeat person, but I'm over it. Getting dressed is a chore, I'm totally uninspired and all I want to do is wrap myself up in a blanket burrito.

Sigh.

The rhinestone skeleton pin was my little ray of cheeriness on a otherwise less than exciting outfit. Button-up, wool sweater and black skirt? Check! Wearing lots of under things? Check! Going to work? Check!

I'm in a funk and I won't let it last too long!

Nananananana Bat Skirt!

I couldn't believe that I didn't own a plain black button-up long sleeve shirt in my wardrobe! So, I picked this 3/4 sleeve bad boy while thrift shopping for two dollars.

Hell Bunny skirt with red bat pockets.

Nothing too exciting, but I'm glad to be feeling better and back to work!
Thank you my readers and all the new ones too!

I'm Battling the Goo Goo Muck

I'm having a sick day, seeing as Derek got the goo goo muck (aka head cold) and he passed it on to me. Isn't he so kind? Since I've been feeling 'off ' for a few days, I finally was subdued and had to call off of work...which I hate doing since I really like my job.

Other than sickness being present in our house, I'm excited to share that we're done with the living room.....for now!

We knocked down walls, painted, pulled up the carpet and refinished the floors, we removed the paint from the woodwork and stained. We did A LOT and it was so worth it!

I love our carpet!

This is what the living room looked like before we moved in. The wall to the right is one of the walls we knocked down to make the living room bigger.

A view into what used to be a room off the kitchen, which is now part of our living room.

I'm going to have another hot toddy and rest.

Happy Friday the 13th my friends!

So. Much. Snow

Yesterday was Derek's birthday and once again we woke up to more snow.

Derek is sad, because there is more shoveling to be done. (Hehe)

This the pile in our backyard, it's to the point that we're running out of room to put the snow.
I'm officially OVER IT! I'm not over my cute hat I thrifted for 99 cents, so warm!

We didn't let the roads and the excess snow stop us from having a good time for Derek's bithday. We walked down our street and hopped on the bus taking us down to Hertel Ave., where we went to a cocktail class and had a lovely dinner and drinks. I suggested to Derek and we do this more often and use the bus system when the weather is crappy. It also means I don't have to worry about driving and getting in an accident or getting stuck just going down our street!

Time to go shovel, blah.

Feeling a Little Lydia Deetz

When I tried this dress on at work, I knew it had to be mine....that and Julie Ann's reaction was quite complimentary. I normally don't show off this much cleavage, but the cut is just so wonderful! This dress happens just happens to compliment my chest coffins rather nicely, which is a bonus I don't look for in clothing.

I think it's a no-brainer as my hat is making me feel like this ensemble is very Lydia Deetz-esque, but I feel this is something she might wear to a dressier occasion....especially with a rhinestone spider brooch on her shoulder. *Wink*

The dress is so comfortable, it's crazy!

I've been too serious lately, so here's a goofy one.
Ta-da!

Beating the Winter Fashion Blahs

I hate winter, too much snow. Getting stuck in my own driveway. *Grumblebats*

Too cold for anything fun, but around the house I threw on this beautiful crepe dress with a split front to feel a little fancy. I paired the dress with these cross pattern mock thigh high tights.

The dress is a dream to wear! I picked it out as an exchange from Forever21, as they had racks of them on clearance. I think I may have been the only one that say its 1940s glamour.

Nose chain and all. I can get fancy for myself and prance around the house to Christian Death while I do the wash. Hehehe!
