It Was a Hoppy Sunday

Derek and I had a few friends over yesterday for Zombie cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. We are not religious, but grew up with families that celebrated 'Jesus rising from the dead'. Over the past several years we've celebrated in our own way, which usually involves a lot of satire and harmless poking fun at the holiday.

Oh yes, Derek is making ground lamb meatballs. They were delicious.

We also made deviled eggs, crab dip, shrimp cocktail and I made a pentacle star veggie tray...with unholy hummus on the side. Hahahaha!!!! My sweater came from the thrift store and bunny ears were leftover from last years Ostara art show (at the tattoo shop), so I got creative with some black electrical tape.

I didn't get a chance to snap any other photos as there was lots of conversation, drinks and food that were being enjoyed. I am always grateful that I have such good people around us, people who enjoy our sense of humor and are always making us laugh. Good times. Good times indeed.

Andddddd Danielle snapped this photo to send to her Mother. I am sitting on my poop beanbag chair, the newest addition to my poop emoji collection. *Strikes a pose on a poop* Hahahahahahhaa!!!!!

I hope you all enjoyed the holiday, no matter how you celebrate or don't!

Until next time!

Kitsch Picks: Life's A Stitch

(Please click on bold text to link you to product)

Ahhhhh, these adorable framed cross stitches by Life's a Stitch are perfect for those like to add a little macabre to their decor. You can really tell the care and detail that go into each one of these cross stitch pieces, they are to die for. Hehe!

As I really look at the grouping I picked out, I do believe they would all look lovely arranged together on a wall, just as I have them pictured!

Thank you for reading, until next time!

Kitsch Picks: Bath Products by Bizarro Au Go-Go

(click on bold text to link to product)

I love it when a company has an awesome sense of humor, so when I came across Bizarro Au Go-Go's bath products, I knew they had to be featured on Kitsch Picks! The Bubble Baphomet Gift Set is just one of the many amazingly blasphemously pun-tastic products. (Sorry if you're offended, but I think there is a little devil in all of us) I can't stop laughing at 'Rub-A-Dub Beelzebub', it's so much fun to say!!!

Thank you for reading, until next time!

Defenders of Truth, Justice, Tequila, Tacos AND Beans!

First there was Holy Frijoles....

But then he was joined by his partner...Pink Taco.

Together they fit the injustices of everything that is brown and mushy...

They are the dynamic duo of Holy Frijoles and Pink Taco.
Defenders of truth, justice, tequila, tacos AND beans!

The back story behind Derek's costume-A few years our friend Jen was having a themed birthday party and Derek decided to create Holy Frijoles around his luchador mask. Mind you, Jen's birthday is not in October or near Halloween. LOL!!! He surprised me and everyone else with his costume, he's such a goof and I love it. Now, I know my characters name is a little crass, but I came up with Holy Frijoles counterpart, Pink Taco, via the way I normally come up with my whacky ideas, I just blurted it out. We both laughed about it and I made my character a reality this year and we went to a Halloween swing dance dressed these costumes.

I did learn that bodysuits are back in fashion, which worked for my costume, yet terrifies me a little bit. Oh, the 90s.

How was you Halloween? What was your costume?

Inspired by Robert Smith

When I spotted this floral top while thrift shopping, I instantly thought "Robert Smith!". I snapped up the shirt for $3 and knew I could make it work in my wardrobe. When I choose to wear loud prints, I often will tone down the other elements of the outfit in order to draw the focus to the print. In this case, I paired the top with some high-waisted black skinny pants and an oversized black sweater. A long strain of beads, 80s style half hoop earrings and my spiked creepers completed the look 'a la inspired by Robert Smith.

                                                                    Shoe cam!

I have a big red smile (Black Cherry by NYX) due to getting a wonderful hair cut by my friend Lauren. Though it's not a huge difference in style, she took a huge bulk out of my over-grown sections, gave me a cute little side bang and she gave my grown out side some TLC. Yay! When my hair is happy, I am happy.....

....so happy that I'm falling over in mid-photo. Yep, I was dancing and then the timer went off. Haha!!!

Do you find fashion inspiration from your favorite musicians?

Kitsch Picks : Greaser Creatures

How clever are these candles by Greaser Creatures!? These creative candles would make a great gift to yourself or to a friend, giving the gift of kitsch that keeps on giving! I wonder if she could make a Saint Robert Smith, I will fill my whole apartment with them! It would be funny if the lyric's for the song "Prayers for Rain" were printed on the back. Teehee!

To Goth Or Not To Goth : It Seems To Be A Serious Question

I have been asked a few times why I don't talk about being a goth, my opinions on the goth subculture, etc., to be frank, it's like pissing in the wind. There are tons of other bloggers and websites of people who rant and rave about 'what goth is' or 'what goth means to them', and though I enjoy a little chuckle now and then, but I don't feel I need to try and recruit people to my opinion. I'm a girl, I wear a lot of black, I listen to goth music, so there ya go! I'm happy in my hair spray-filled world! I will say that I think people take themselves way too seriously and thus put silly rules upon the lifestyle and subculture, life's not about living in a black box.....though that describes my apartment. *Wink*

Oh, they are so cute!

I do enjoy people's opinions and doing the research into things that they love and if they have a passion for goth, well it's relevant to my interests and I sure will give it a read. The snobbery, elitism and petty crap is in every 'scene', but for some reason goths love to make outsiders feel so uncomfortable that the goth scene doesn't prosper. I know we love dead things, but come on! I'm not saying I wasn't guilty of snobbery in my youth, but as an old lady in my 30s (haha, slap me now!) I've realized to just relax and be more excepting. My life is filled with things other than bats, spiders and Robert Smith. Shocking, I know!

So to goth or not to goth, it's not a serious question, it's a matter of enjoying life and just make yourself happy whether you're a cyber goth or a deathrockabillytikivictoriangoth <---that's me! Haha!!!!

Psy-psy-psy-PSYCHO!

I'm dusting off the psychobilly music after I 'a-billy'ed myself six months ago when Derek and I dj'ed an event which we called "The Psycho Sock Hop". Out of pure accident and I was trying to comb down my mohawk and I gave myself a huge pomp.

Photobucket
You will often see my wearing my hair teased up and back into a pomp, yet since my hair is getting longer it's looking more full and BIG. Big is good and I was very pleased. *Wink*

Auditioning to be a member of Mad Sin

I took one of my best friend's Danielle out on an adventure and though it was ridiculously hot, I threw on my vest, a pair of rolled up black skinny's and my creepers. I stepped in front of the mirror and bust into laughter and said out loud, "Wow I look like psychobilly dude". I'm okay with it, don't get me wrong.

So I was inspired by my look on Sunday to share with you some of my favorite bands/songs that get my toes tappin'. Enjoy.....

The Meteors

Long Tall Texans

Batmobile

Demented Are Go! (One of my all time favorite bands!)

There is a ton of music out there that completely blurs the line in terms of genres, I just wanted to share some of my favorites that make me scream, "PSYCHO!". Hahahahaa!

What I Can't Live Without : Chapstick

I am a chapstick addict. I admit it! My chapstick addiction is not to just chapstick in general, I'm addicted to the Chapstick brand in Classic, not super fruity flavor or whatever craziness they offer, Classic. I have tried many other brands, flavors, etc. I just can't overcome my love of Chapstick Classic (black, so goth!). I know it's one of the worst ones for you and I should switch it up, but my love is so deep I'm thinking of getting a 'holy chapstick' tattoo to commemorate my insanity (and because I think it's hilarious).

Photobucket
<3 <3smoooch<3<3
Of course I can't live without; food, water and air, but chapstick is right up there with what I need! Give me chapstick or give me death....to my lips, I hate when they are dry!

What can't you live without?

Thanks for reading!!!

Dorking It Up In My New Doc's

Yippie! My new Dr. Marten 14 hole boots arrived yesterday and I got a chance to run around in them today! Since the sun is shining and I'm in a fantastic mood I ventured out into the world to do some thrifting and dropped the hubby off at work. I'm proud of my purchase as I've been stalking eBay for pair of nice boots at a good price. I bought these brand new and unworn from an eBay seller for $41, what a steal!

Since I'm in a good mood I decided to just be goofy and use my favorite little spot in the living room as my backdrop. This is the place where I sit and blog on my laptop, sip my favorite cocktails and curl up to watch tv when the hubby is not home.

Warning copious amounts of dorkiness ahead. You've been warned! *Wink*

These boots are nice to creep around in
Or to scowl at you in, just kidding <3
Or stand awkwardly in while staring at the
ceiling

Link Round-Up : Funny Stuff To Watch

My hubby and I have a great sense of humor and any time we find silly things on the worldwide web we share it with each other. I know these little comical things can be time consuming and mind numbing, yet sometimes you just need to indulge yourself!

Warning: Get ready to waste some time!

+If you like Nine Inch Nails and you like to play bingo, watch this and enjoy SORP Films humor.
+BBC certainly has an awesome sense of humor, especially when a whole show is about talking animals.
+I'm late to the game, but the honey badger doesn't give a shit!
+You've been goth blocked! This is an oldie, but still funny to watch!
+Once again BBC brings us comedy with Spine Chillers and this episode always makes me laugh. Make sure to watch all four parts!

Deathrock Baking : Pumpkin Cupcakes

I did some baking for my husband's birthday and he requested something that would fit with his Weight Watchers diet. I have to admit I was sort of shocked and proud that when I offered to make his favorite, Shoo-fly Pie, he passed! I knew with my super wife-y powers I needed to whip up something delicious and full of flavor. I turned to my favorite food blog, Skinny Taste and tried her Pumpkin Cupcakes with Pumpkin Spiced Cream Cheese Frosting recipe. Pumpkin cupcakes in February?! Silly, "Everyday is Halloween"!

Got my ingredients ready!
Wearing my cupcake apron

I'm calling this blog "Deathrock Baking" as I was listening to Christian Death while I baked and laughing to myself while I wore my cute and colorful cupcake apron. Hey! Even us 'dark clad creatures of the night' need a cheery apron. *Wink* I was also imagining myself trying to bake with my mohawk in my face, hrrmmm...perhaps I could get my own cable access show?!

Fresh from the oven
After dancing in the living for 20 minutes, the cupcakes were done! I did let them cool down like a good girl, but the pumpkin spice smell taunted me the whole time. Mmmmmmm! The reason why I love this recipe is that there are no eggs or oil used, I know, I was a little shocked too. They came out moist and fluffy, perfect! These cupcakes taste delicious alone, but with the pumpkin spice cream cheese frosting they are sinfully good. Don't fret my pets, they are only 3 points a piece on Weight Watchers and would be awesome if you're giving Bat Fit a try.

The husband was happy (and so were the guys at the [tattoo] shop) and I have another recipe to add to my growing list of healthy and tasty eats. Yahoooooo!

Do you have any healthy baking tips or recipes to share with the deathrock baker? Hahahaha!
