Creepy Cute Sweaters by Too Fast

Very excited that I can wear my new sweaters from Too Fast clothing (not a sponsored post) like the Moon Bats Cult Sweater I got from my Halloween Haul at work. Moons and bats and stars, oh my!

This sweater is a bit longer, roomier and oh-so-soft! I paired the sweater with leggings, a little stretch skirt and my Dr. Marten boots. Basically a simple outfit that is combo I will often be seen in cooler months. I am ready! So very ready!

No matter what I try to always wear some accessories!

The other sweater is the Eerie Cemetery cardigan that I had been lusting after since I had seen it in Too Fast's catalog. Though we didn't order it for work, I knew that it had to be mine! I dragged my heels and didn't order the sweater from their website (it sold out), so I tracked the sweater down and got it from an ebay store. Though I am happy I purchased the sweater, the sleeves are way too short for me and quality is not as nice as the other Too Fast sweaters we sold at work.

BUT, I have already worn the cardigan more than 5 times as it pairs with basically everything in my wardrobe. (Like my Lucy Fur leggings) and it washed up very nicely! I may purchase a second one in a larger size and see if that helps with the sleeve length, but knowing me I'll just wear it with a long sleeve t-shirt and call it a day.

I hope you've been enjoying the Halloween wares I've been sharing, I've been prepping for these purchases since I've seen the catalogs last year!

Kitsch Picks: Monster Masks Metal Signs by Retro-a-go-go!

These are original Retro-a-go-go! artwork inspired by the creepy and oversized Halloween plastic masks that were popular in the 1950s through 1970s. They have taken that inspiration and made them into metal signs! Love it!

Which one is your favorite?

Sunday Funday with Stripes and Bones

I've been making a point to wear different clothing combinations for the weekends. I work at a clothing boutique and though I love my job, I need to "dress up" everyday, so I feel like being lazy on the weekends. Argh! So, I'm trying to find a happy medium between wearing fussy fashion and comfy cute, hey I just made that up. LOL!

Since Derek and I went out shopping for Halloween items (once again!), I threw together this outfit in which I was quite pleased. I picked up this striped skater skirt from H&M months ago and haven't worn it due to being conscious of it making my bottom portion look wide. In reality, once I put something on, I just go with it! I tell that little voice of insecurity to "shut up", it's only clothes!

Derek and I had a nice time spending the day together and even went to the Mall! *Gasp* I wanted to explore what the stores has to offer and get some exercise while we window shopped. I have to admit it was sorta fun!

"Is Halloween your favorite time of the year?"
Yes. Yes it is.

Happy Halloween Hunting

As mentioned in my previous blog post, Derek and I went Halloween hunting on Sunday. It was an unseasonably warm day, but I still managed to wear a few layers. I'm jonesing for jackets, long layers and cozy sweaters, but I'm mostly wishing for an *actual* Autumn and not a 'it's 80 degrees one day and snowing the next' Buffalo weather.

Weather aside, we had a nice day that included going to stores like; Joann Fabric, Dollar Tree, The Spirit Store and Pier 1. We picked up a few things that included some velvet ribbon for a dress I ordered from Restyle.pl that I (now) have to alter. Let's just say their sizing chart is WRONG and I'm not happy, but that's possibly for another blog post......

I was hoping to get more Halloween-inspired household goods, like dish towels and spider web doilies, but alas I haven't found too much that has impressed me. We did come home with some items for our costumes, home decor and Halloween knick knacks. There is still time to do more Halloween hunting, but soon it will be time to put out the decorations and eat some candy corn on October 1st!

Thank you for reading my groovy ghoulies!

Our Vintage Halloween Kitsch-en

This Madame Talbot print was the inspiration for my idea to have a vintage Halloween inspired kitchen, or kitsch-en as I would like to dub it.

We painted the upper walls gold and painted the bottom paneling dark brown as well painting the trim a high gloss black.

I remembered these orange and black striped valances that I made and voila!, they were perfect. The bottom pieces of material were just hung for privacy, but they have been replaced with plain black cafe curtains which I am may sew on some orange felt bats or something else that tickles our fancy.

I love the green linoleum floors, very 60s and one of the many things that made me fall in love with our 1887 home. We took off the cabinet fronts and painted them a dark brown and updated the cabinet hands with metal chrome and re-purposed the cabinet hinges by spray painting them silver. I hung up my Halloween cut-outs and even found Halloween Con-Tact paper for the inside cabinet doors and decided to use some on the light switch!

We still have some finishing touches and some other decor ideas (like painting the tiled back splash), but it's coming along nicely! Hard to believe we've only been in the house a little over a month and have been so productive!!!

A little imagination, elbow grease and using what you have can really make a huge difference! This is what it looked like before:

Defenders of Truth, Justice, Tequila, Tacos AND Beans!

First there was Holy Frijoles....

But then he was joined by his partner...Pink Taco.

Together they fit the injustices of everything that is brown and mushy...

They are the dynamic duo of Holy Frijoles and Pink Taco.
Defenders of truth, justice, tequila, tacos AND beans!

The back story behind Derek's costume-A few years our friend Jen was having a themed birthday party and Derek decided to create Holy Frijoles around his luchador mask. Mind you, Jen's birthday is not in October or near Halloween. LOL!!! He surprised me and everyone else with his costume, he's such a goof and I love it. Now, I know my characters name is a little crass, but I came up with Holy Frijoles counterpart, Pink Taco, via the way I normally come up with my whacky ideas, I just blurted it out. We both laughed about it and I made my character a reality this year and we went to a Halloween swing dance dressed these costumes.

I did learn that bodysuits are back in fashion, which worked for my costume, yet terrifies me a little bit. Oh, the 90s.

How was you Halloween? What was your costume?

Pumpkins and a New Tattoo!

Every year Derek always nudges me and says, "You should get a Halloween tattoo", since it is something he does every year AND he also does several days of Halloween tattooing. AKA-He does $31 Halloween tattoo's which can be picked from a flash sheet that he created. It's become a tradition! Well, here is my Illuminati-corn, it's all seeing! Hehehe! This photo was taken right after Derek was finished, so it's a little red and swollen.

We also carved pumpkins at the tattoo shop. It was fun to hang out, eat snacks and carve my cross-kin. Also, my pumpkin in on one of the chairs that came from a church, I thought it was fitting. *Wink*

"Whoa, Sandworms. You hate 'em right?"

Derek's Beetlejuice themed pumpkin, he also carved several others, since he's a loon about carving pumpkins. I'm sure I'll be finding pumpkin seeds in his pockets, hahaha!

Have you been doing anything fun this Halloween season?

Outfit of the Day : Jack-o-Lantern Fun

vintage bow belt from Julie Ann

I was digging through my t-shirts and I forgot about this jack-o-lantern t-shirt that I picked up a few years ago from Target. I figured it was the perfect shirt to wear to work to get into the Halloween spirit. It was definitely fun to wear a little orange!

I'm always trying to find different ways to wear my plethora of t-shirts and my latest favorite styling is wearing the t-shirts tucked into a higher waist skirt. This particular skirt was chopped from a dress, which also seems to be becoming a trend in my world. I find if the dress has a nice waist seam and with the help of some scissors, elastic and sewing machine, it can be transformed into a skirt! I figured this method out through some trial and error, haha!

Now I'm going to go eat a bowl of Count Chocula and freak out from the sugar rush. Ahhh, adult life.

Halloween Cocktail Party!

This weekend was Jenny and Mike's Halloween cocktail party, so it was a great opportunity to wear my new Hell Bunny dress!

I was going to change the halter straps into regular style over-the-shoulder straps, but it looked awful and made the bust line look awkward. I just need to suck it up and enjoy the dress as-is....or until I figure something else out. *Wink*

What I'm wearing:
-dress, Seth Dress Hell Bunny
-boots, vintage from etsy
-assorted jewelry

Are you attending any Halloween festivities?
