Well, I don't look like a Vampiress, but it's the name of the Hell Bunny dress that I am wearing. I'm finally able to wear this dress on its own without having to wear a sweater, which would cover up the lovely collar and sleeves.
I love these Sourpuss Coffin Drop Earrings. So simple, yet so versatile. I firmly believe coffins, spider webs, skulls, bats and crosses can be considered a "neutral" in a goth's wardrobe. Hehehe!
I hope everyone enjoys their weekend. I have the day off today and I plan on getting some tasks done around the house and check out a local dance event.
The Web White Skater Skirt by Kreepsville 666 was spotted on their Facebook page and I think it's too cute! Being a sucker for flared skirts, I had to share. *Wink, wink*
I'm finally getting a chance to wear and talk about the Shrunken Head Circle Skirt by The Oblong Box Shop which I wore during my trip to NYC. Though I still like the skirt, I've had some issues arise after washing it.
The polyester threads pulled out of the skirt! I have never had a polyester garment do this and I took great care while washing. I always wash on cold/delicate cycle and I never put anything like this skirt in the dryer. Machine's can do unruly things to garments, so I'm not blaming the company. I am just bummed, but it's not going to stop me from wearing the skirt.
Alright, enough of that. Let's get to the fun part of this blog!
Playing in the wind!!!
It's been so windy here in Buffalo, so I'm just going to (as Tim Gunn would say) "Make it work!". Weeee!!
Happy World Goth Day! Though I've never celebrated the day per say, yet it's still nice that people are coming together throughout the world! Just don't hug the goths....unless they like it. Hehe!
My goth "coming of age story" is not really clear. I was in High School and was alternative, I started going to raves at 14 and was into going to local shows. The 90s were a weird time, but a time where none of my friend's defined themselves as 'this or that', we just all hung out together. One big motley crew!
I don't know if it was fate when I had a guy come up to be at a hardcore show (we later "dated", I was only 14 and nothing happened other than hanging out) and asked me "Do you like The Cure?". Which I said, yes. Turns out he was a HUGE crazy Cure fan and gifted me with all sorts of music. I remember the one time we were hanging out listening to music and he turned and looked at me and said, "You are like Charlotte Sometimes", I had no idea what he was talking about other than The Cure song. Later on, after really listening to the lyrics of "Charlotte Sometimes", I understood and it has became my favorite Cure song. It was as if a seed had been planted......
My journey into goth wasn't really an exciting one, just a series of discoveries into industrial music (techno music was the gateway drug), than goth, and then the black fashion followed. Music has always been the number one influence on me as well as spending hours watching music videos and reading magazines and books about our beloved subculture.
So, Happy World Goth Day dear readers! Now let's all go dance to the record version of, "Bela Lugosi's Dead"...all 9 minutes and 30 seconds of it. Phew!
Let's all take a moment to 'ohhhh and ahhhhh' over The Spangled Maker's designs.Kitschy vintage illustrations you can wear?! Yes, please! I've got my eye on the Victorian Bat Girl Brooch and am already styling her into outfits as I type this. Hehe!
Tuesday was thrift shopping and grocery gettin', so I thought the Pizza Party Skater Skirt by Sourpuss Clothing would be fitting! I love, love, LOVE pizza, though I don't eat it too often.
It was so windy on Tuesday and my hair was all crazy, so there was no point in trying to tame it! Slapped a giant bow on and I was done with it. Hehehe!
The slices have skull shaped mushrooms on them!
Do you love pizza? What are your favorite toppings?
Saturday afternoon was filled with me presenting a class on measuring yourself for a proper fit in retro style clothing. I was incredibly nervous, but the gals who came made it easy and fun. I emphasized that size is just a number in clothing and it doesn't define you as a person, it is just what those companies decided to use as their measurements to determine their sizing. Size is a sensitive subject, but focusing on what looks good on you and how you feel rather than the size is always my main goal!

After work I went home to color my hair back to lavender, make dinner and got ready to go out to a local bar for a goth/alternative music night. Though the event was small, we all had a great time on a lovely Spring evening.
Goth group shot! Derek, myself, Sebastian and Danielle
Second shot with flash. Hissssss! Hahaha!
My blue steel face. (photos from Danielle)
Monday was a punk show at one of the punk houses in town. Since Derek and I have off Sundays and Mondays, we consider this day part of our weekend. The main band we wanted to see was Silence from Pittsburgh, PA, who may be the gothest punk band and I told them that! They were great, but I felt sorta bad for them as the punks didn't seem too into them and the room was half full. Oh well, we dug them and bought their demo and pins, I do love my pins!
Doing a presentation at work, so I wanted to look my best.
Yep. Temporary blonde, which is funny since I am a natural blonde and I feel very odd. I haven't had blonde hair in over 5 years, but I thought it would be fun to have a few days to see if I wanted to stick with it.
The verdict: Nope. The purple will be coming back. I also decided to bleach and tone my hair back to a blonde as the last re-purpling turned out terrible and I needed a fresh canvas to start the process over again. I hate the upkeep, but in the long run it's worth it.
Derek and I had a lot of fun making Dutch Paint Boy jokes, so naturally I had to pose for a picture.
I don't hate my blonde hair, but I'm not ready to go back.....just yet.
I really didn't know what to title this blog, seeing as it really is just another casual outfit. Hehe! This is what I wore on Tuesday to do some thrift shopping and then food shopping. It was so incredibly windy out that I wasn't able to take photos outside. Bummer! I didn't even bother flat ironing my hair due to the wind! Oh the humidity!
I'm also having a major hair dilemma, why am I growing my hair out again? I like that the bob is easy, but I'm starting to get a little bored. Yes, I have changed my hair a lot over the years, but it makes me happy to experiment. I usually chop my hair in the winter, and grow it in the summer, which is so backwards! This year may be different.....

I love being thrifty. That means we visit garage sales, scour thrift shops, garage pick, visit antique/vintage shops, trade with friends and use Craigslist. We've been really, really lucky on Craigslist these past few weeks and have gotta a lot of great things for the Hut. The palm trees (second one is across the room, where I'm standing taking the photo), the bamboo love seat and chair, and the two wicker tables have all come from people selling on Craigslist. We got everything for a steal. The Hut is coming along nicely, but we have lots of decorating and unpacking to do. I haven't seen some of our collection for almost 6 months!
We also added this mid century credenza to our dining room, courtesy of good friends. It's nice when you can swap as a bunch of us decorate our homes in a similar fashion, so it's nice to see items go to good homes. I have to mention that Derek picked up the shadowbox at a garage sale a few years ago, painted it and surprised me with it! Can't say no to $10!
I really think I was a frustrated interior designer in another plane of existence. Hahahaaha! I just love to DIY, decorate and repurpose! My environment really effects my mood, so I think that's why I put so much care and thought into my space. Now that we have our own house, we both are busting with ideas, but know we can't get it all done at once. Crazy to think we've only been living in our house for almost 5 months!
Thank you for reading!
Stay tuned for my first GIVEAWAY! Details will be announced on the blog this week!
I thought I could go another day without washing my hair. Nope. By the time I done showering, gettting dressed and sat down at my dressing table for hair/make-up it was too late. I was in the gross-hair zone. Dun, dun, dunnnnn! So I threw on a bandana, which also happens to have spider webs on it, thus so many spider webs. (Like that's really a bad thing!) PS-I am wearing my new spiked creepers by TUK, a great eBay purchase.
I'm finally getting to be able to wear this Hell Bunny dress that I modified from a halter to a regular across the shoulder strap. It's a bit of a pain in the butt, but it's always worth it for my comfort and the ability to be able to wear a regular bra. Of course, the straps are covered with this little thrifted cropped cardigan, but it's still too chilly to expose my shoulders. Admittedly it's been a bit odd having so much skin exposed after this brutal winter we've had in Buffalo.
The "bat" sunglasses were purchased from eBay last year. I just had to have them, even though they are a little odd to wear. Derek said I looked like a super hero, hahaha!!!!
And then the wind came......
One good reason why I wear shapewear and/or bike shorts under my dresses!
Just a typical Tuesday filled with food shopping and getting tasks done around the house. The day was over cast and mild which called for a nice flowy and comfy outfit.
Also a good day to take some photos in the garden.
This sleeveless "dress" I'm wearing is more like a tunic on me, it was from my last (and final) impulsive order from Forever 21, which I regretted buying until now. The dress is cute, but not very flattering and you can see the line from my bra....fail. Oh well, good for bumming around in and it's nice and light.
I can't seem to do too casual, I like my jewelry! Pile on those silver spiked bracelets! Hehehe!
Derek exclaimed, "You look like Molly Ringwald today!". I replied, "Yes, this is definitely her type of outfit!". Off to work I went.....
Though I'm wearing atomic print, it's still a kitschy likeness to an outfit that she may have been worn in the 80s. The 80s does 50s is personally my favorite "retro 50s" type of outfit. Yes, the 80s are retro along with the 60s and 70s, I think people forget those decades. Hehe!!!
