Roller Boogie!

I interrupt our regularly scheduled Shoe Thursday for some ROLLER BOOGIE! Wednesday night was adult retro roller skating night and boy was it a blast! I wore a skater skirt, because...you know, I was skating. Weeee!

Julie Ann and I

Derek and Andrew doing...umm, I have no idea. Haha!

Roller skates are basically shoes on wheels, so I have to point out some skates that I think are totally rad!

Sigh, maybe someday, but I'll stick to rentals for now.

Hey look! Derek is posing with a laser-eyed vampire!

I can't wait till next Wednesday, so much fun and such good exercise. I definitely felt the burn this morning!

Thank you for hanging out with me!

  2. Are you good at skating? Why DO they call it a skater skirt?

    1. I think I'm pretty decent at skating. I spent a lot of time at rinks during my youth (my brother was a rink guard/dj in the early 90s and my dad loved to skate as well)

My only guess as to why they call them skater skirts is that they look like something an ice skater would wear OR they are just using the term to modernize an A-line skirt.

  3. I wish I had the confidence or even the coordination for that! I go ice skating every year and convince myself that I might be better at it than the last time.... to no avail! I end up on my bum every time! X

    1. Ice skating scares me a little more than ice skating as I haven't gone since I was a pre-teen, but I would recommend at least trying roller skating once!! A lot of us fell at the roller rink, but if it's something you don't do often it's bound to happen. Heck, there were some of the Roller Derby gals who were falling too! ;)

  4. In roller derby, they actually teach us HOW to fall! It's inevitable! The key is safety gear though! Now that I skate with derby girls, I tend to freak out, nervous-mom-style, anytime I see people skating without safety gear!

Looks like you had a lot of fun. I absolutely adore roller skating!

    1. My husband and I were talking about how we really need to get some wrist guards if we're going to continue to go once a week. We're not getting any younger! Hehehe!

I enjoy watching the derby gals in all their gear and how they train =D

  6. Nice to know I'm not the only clumsy one! Would love to own pretty skates like those even though I'd have no use for them ;) sometimes shoes look nicer on a shelf than on my feet!
