Ice Cream and Sculpture?!

Wednesday is a day off for Derek and myself, we usually choose fun adventures or just get household tasks done. Then again, what fun is doing chores on your day off?! I had been craving an ice cream sundae and though I'm lactose intolerant, I took a lactaid pill and hoped for the best! We headed to Parkside Candy which is definitely one of the neatest (and historic) places in Buffalo to enjoy the view while feasting on ice cream delights.

My ice cream sundae is huge compared to Derek's. Oink oink!
PS-I didn't feel sick! YAY!

View from our little booth. Mmmmm candy!

I may complain about Buffalo from time-to-time, I think we all do when it's a place we've pretty much lived our whole lives, yet there are some amazing things to do that may have been forgotten about! I would love to get my lady friends together and come back to Parkside Candy to gossip over mountains of ice cream!

Derek and I took about an hour drive south to Griffis Sculpture Park, which I have been wanting to visit for years. The sculpture park is definitely one of those gems in the Western NY area that many people either don't know about nor have never visited. I sorta understand if you're not the outdoor hiker type (raises hand), that you wouldn't be too excited to make the journey. Derek and I excepted the challenge and not only did it kick our asses, but it was well worth the sweat and sore muscles!

Warning: Many pictures of silly people enjoying playing amongst the sculptures.

All silliness aside, this sculpture was my favorite. The way the figure is positioned with a sober and elegant mood it conveyed to me. I also thought it was very Tim Burton-esque, so naturally I was drawn to it. She stood over looking a small pond which was surrounded by other sculptures, so we sat down to admire the view and have a drink of water (I was sweating like a pig!).

Phew! I'm feeling the burn today! Not that I'm a delicate flower, but it made me realize how I'm not a hiker nor that experienced with rough terrain. I am pleased with myself as I did something out of my "comfort zone" which is always makes me glad that participated in the experience. What I did not enjoy was using the out house........yeah.

Thanks for reading!
