Kiss Me Deadly

Hello friends! Yesterday we got back from a short trip to visit family in Virginia and though it was extremely lovely to see everyone, I feel like I am so behind on everything. 'Everything' meaning Halloween decorations and costume planning, I feel like I blinked my eyes and September is almost over!

Though we only put up a Halloween tree (so far), I've already been celebrating the upcoming Halloween season with my outfits, and the latest has included the Kiss Me Deadly dress by Hell Bunny. I have jumped on any opportunity to add lovely, cute and creepy pieces to my wardrobe as I had been patiently waiting, saving and plotting for all the Halloween fashions. *Rubs hands together*

Wearing; Kiss Me Deadly dress (Hell Bunny via Cats Like Us), faux knee high tights (Hot Topic), Mary Janes (vintage Dr. Martens via eBay), bow headband (old, gift from Melanie)

Shout out to Sharon over at Goth Gardening who is my dress twin. She looks amazing in the Kiss Me Deadly dress and I just wanted her to know I was thinking of her!

Thank you for reading, until next time!

Happy Autumnal Equinox!

Happy Autumnal Equinox my dear friends! Or to my friends in the Southern Hemisphere, Happy Vernal Equinox! For those that celebrate Mabon, I wish you glad tidings, reflection and wonderful feasting!

With the temperature reaching 84 degrees, it wasn't exactly Autumn weather, yet I reached in the closet and pulled out an old work horse. This eShakti dress was one of the best purchases I've made and its made its appearance many times on the blog. (Latest appearance here.) Such a versatile piece that fits me perfectly! I love you black dresses....sigh.

I threw on a Sourpuss Clothing scarf that was from last year's Halloween offerings. I love the vintage Halloween cat print, but the yellowish cream colored background didn't thrill me, yet I decided to take a chance and add it into the accessory mix. It works well with a all black outfit and Derek even complimented me on the way the scarf looked in my hair. *Shrugs* I've been taking alot "risks". LOL!

And of course, I can't forget to talk about my jack-o-lantern brooch by Summer Blue Jewelry., the main inspiration and focus of today's outfit.  I don't see this brooch in her shop (I bought it last year), but her shop is chalked full of amazing Halloween goodies. It has been really hard to self control at this time of the year. So. Very. Hard.

Anywho, thank you for reading and I hope you are well and happy.

Oh-So Flowy Pants

The current trend in my dressing seems to be me throwing on things that I haven't worn in a very long time and realizing how much they are comfy and wonderful. I also forgot how lovely is it to be wearing wide leg pants.

It was the perfect day to play in the wind while wearing such flowy pants and such a flowy tank. I ran some errands and have been putting a bunch of new items up on my etsy page. It's fun to dress up in vintage clothing, I get to see myself in different styles. Yet, I'll stick to what I have going on now Hehe!

Wearing; tank top (Target), silky wide leg pants (H&M), bone loafer flats (Not Rated), Cult of Isis Necklace (Alchemy Gothic)

Is it weird to look at this photo and think, "Whoa, I have cool tattoos!" Never hurts to look at yourself from different aspects as well. *Wink*

Ruffles and Frills for Friday

I bought this beautiful ruffled H&R London dress quite a few months ago and have been waiting for the right temperature to wear this piece for the first time. If you're not familiar with H&R London, they are an inexpensive brand that sells mostly 50s-inspired dresses, skirts, etc., but also have some lovely darker pieces like this dress. (I love this dress and this one. *Swoons*)

I own one other H&R London dress and sell them at work, so I know that their quality is okay and the fit can be a bit odd (sizing runs very small, always measure yourself!), yet I took the plunge and ordered the dress. Much to my surprise the dress fits great and is quite comfortable! There was a button in the middle of the bow (which both bow and button were completely off center, haha!), but I removed the button since it didn't suit my tastes.

The triple row of ruffles at the bottom of the dress does make the dress a bit heavy, but that doesn't stop it from flowing nicely when I walk. Side note-I had to steam the crap out of this dress, especially the ruffles. UGH!

The Banned Apparel shrug is something we ordered in at work and we only got two of them (weird!), so I snatched one up as I love the lace on the back, at the cuffs and the embroidered patches and crosses on the arms.

Wearing; ruffled dress (brand: H&R London via eBay seller), skeleton cameo shrug (brand: Banned Apparel via Cats Like Us), spider necklace (gift from Julie Ann), polka dot scarf (Sourpuss Clothing), black flats (Target)

It was fun to get dressed in ruffles and frills for work!!!

Harlow Halloween Blouse by Hell Bunny

I'm pretty excited to be able to start showing you a bit of my 'Halloween Hunt' that I got from work. Though I know haul seems to be a popular term to use when it comes to blogging and Youtube, yet I am going to call it a 'hunt' as I'm more stalking Halloween rather than gathering. RAWR! Hahaha!

The Harlow Halloween Blouse was something I snatched up right away as I had been thinking about it since I saw Hell Bunny's catalog and fell in love with the sheer pattern and Peter Pan collar. This style flew out the door at work, which is not surprising as it has jack-o-lanterns, bats, spiders and spider webs (oh my!), along with a 60s vintage vibe that I know some people totally dig without even knowing it. Side tangent-Most often 60s retro vintage gets ignored, as people usually think 1950s when it comes to dressing in retro inspired clothing.

Wearing; Harlow Halloween Blouse (Hell Bunny via Cats Like Us), belt I always wear (old, Target), skirt (Steady Clothing via Cats Like Us), bat heel pin (Black Willow Gallery), bow headband (old, gift from Melanie), striped button earrings (from Cats Like Us) Mary Janes (vintage Dr. Martens via eBay)

Have you been Halloween "hunting" and if so, what have been your favorite find(s)?

Thank you for reading, until next time!

Leggings and Boots Make Me Happy

I was pretty excited to pull on a pair of leggings and slip into my engineer boots. I know I'm pushing for Autumn weather and I know I'll regret wishing for colder temps once it starts snowing. Oh well, I'm just jonsing for layers, layers and more layers!

I love these Skinny Puppy leggings. The imagery and artwork spans the bands career.

Picture leggings can be purchased here.

My onyx crystal disappears into my t-shirt dress, but I still wear it often. Not only is onyx my favorite gemstone (my engagement ring is onyx), but it helps to keep negative energy away. So, it's not just a pretty thing to wear. *Wink*.

Wearing; t-shirt dress (Forever 21), skinny puppy leggings, leather engineer boots (Target online), tombstone necklace (borrowed from Derek), onyx crystal (etsy), pewter bone hoops (Martha Rotten)

Thank you for reading, until next time!

Flowy Clothes, Thunderstorms and An Owl

Welcome to my kitsch-en! After work yesterday I slipped into some flowy clothing as a thunderstorm rolled in dumping buckets on rain on the house. I was relieved to get a break from the humidity and heat, even though the rain made my hair a bit sad. Haha!

Unfortunately due to the nature of wearing all black and using the flash, showing off the layering didn't come out as planned. Basically I'm wearing a long tank top over a fitted tank top over cotton gaucho pants. I just grabbed these pieces not thinking much about them and realized that they really looked neat all together. I love it when that happens!

I was inspired to pose in the Halloween kitsch-en as I add this hooter to the collection. I picked up this cute owl blow molded for $3 at the thrift shop that is right next to work. There are no markings on the plastic, so I'm not sure if it's a newer piece or not, but I'm excited to add him to the collection.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Spiked Floral Crown Headband

Hello dear readers! Phew, it's a humid one today and I have to admit I am ready for cooler temperatures and being able to wear all my Halloween goodies I got from work. (I'm sure they will appear on the blog soon). What I have been wanting to share is this beautiful spiked floral crown by Bling Beauty Bowtique. I have to admit when floral spiked crowns were all the rage I wasn't too interested, but admired when people would wear them as I love wearing fancy head decor. Now that my hair is getting longer, I'm feeling inspired (again) to style my hair around hair pieces. I am also finding myself digging through my storage boxes and re-visiting some old favorites.

The spikes aren't sharp, but it's still fun to live dangerously, or at least look like you are doing so. Hehe! The crown headband is so comfortable, lightweight, and doesn't squeeze my head, so I was pretty happy and surprised!

Wearing; Aconite Skull dress by Hell Bunny, vinyl belt (the one I always wear), red bow flats (Born shoes), skeleton necklace (thrifted), coffin dangle earrings (Sourpuss Clothing), black floral spiked headband (Bling Beauty Bowtique)

Melissa who owns Bling Beauty Bowtique makes amazing items and I can tell by my piece that she puts a lot of care into her work. I am keeping my eyes on her shop as I have a feeling I will add some more pieces to my collection in the future.

Hello My Dearest Readers!

Where the heck did the time go since last Monday?! Last week was a blur with; my doctor's appointment, blood work, dog sitting (and are currently), working and trying to relax a little. *Phew*

Another thing I've turned my attentions to is the inside of house. I was hunting for some small shelves for the interior bar (which is in the living room) to display our Treasure Craft Hawaiian figures and some Tiki mugs. I got the shelves off etsy for a great deal. I love etsy!

I finally filled in the silver wall space left of the shelving unit. The photo is dark (sorry), but there is a framed glass syringe at the top and two framed items I got from the Target "impulse" section.

My latest find was the little tiered stand that I picked up at a garage sale for $3. I plan on displaying some of our little knick knacks and skulls. I find little shelves come in handy in a household that loves their tchotchke's. We also need to find a home for the pile of black velvet paintings on the right. Hehe!

Oh yes, I just have to share my deviled eggs platter that I made over the extended weekend. We had a last minute get together and serving retro style finger foods are my favorite. I love having gatherings!

So yeah, that's about it. I hope you are all having a fantastic week!

Thank you for reading, until next time!
