Yep. This is my darling husband. Haha! This photo was taken on Sunday when our friend Danielle helped us move some items to the house. The movers came yesterday, which I was grateful for, as it was 15 degrees with the wind chill making it feel like the Arctic. We've both moved a lot, so this was our first time ever hiring someone to move our furniture and boxed items, and I have to admit I felt really odd just letting them work while I just puttered around.
So as I'm typing this staring at the half-finished refinished wood floor, it has all been worth it and will continue to be. So much more painting, cleaning and decorating to do, but it's allllll ours. *Big smile*

Haha! No, he's always been the nutter than I love ;) He even wore the jack-o-lantern head in car (I was driving). Your house is amazing and it reflects your loveliness, I'm not surprised it's been featured in interior magazines!!!
DeleteWe moved into our own house about 12 years ago - away from an apartment house with neighbours who kept on bullying us. So moving into our own house with our own garden made our life easier and more relaxing - especially for our children.

ReplyDeleteI think it is exactly what you are doing - making it your own. We moved to Colorado in Aug. 2012 and bought the worlds ugliest home. 2 years later it has been gutted and remodeled to our tastes - it was stressful but so worth it.

ReplyDeleteFor me, the most rewarding part of homeownership is that it encourages me to be creative and to make things. It also prompted me to start a blog, which has been immensely rewarding in itself.

Well, I live in a house that I will most likely eventually inherit (although my mother's not allowed to die, I've already told her that)… there's something to be said for being able to paint the front door an outlandish and untrendy color with no fear of irritating the landlord. That, and being able to try weird DIY projects…. paper floor, not so great (it's fading), bubble-wrap-on-the-windows-for-insulation, so far so good!

I live in Sydney near the beach (Coogee) and the best part of owning my own house is having a place for my thousands of Barbie dolls. Sorry just kidding. Actually its been being able to set up a decent workshop to work on my old motorbikes. Also I love owning a dog and not having to find rentals that accept pets. The downside, maintenance. I'm painting window frames this Summer cutting out wood rot and its a pain. Good luck with your new home. I hope you have lovely neighbors.
