The 90s Are Alive in Buffalo

Everyone at the shop got little Halloween tattoo's after Halloween and I choose to get a little devil on my right leg. The only issue with getting my legs tattooed in colder months is what am I going to wear while it is healing? I have a few looser fitting bottoms, but they aren't anything that look nice  outside the house. Thus, I turned to Target to see if I could find anything that I liked on their website. I found these velvet wide leg pants and once I put them on, I was transported back to the 90s. I used to always wear wide leg pants and I have always loved velvety pants, as they are so comfy and cozy!

Night look for date night: black ponte knit blazer paired with velvet pants and chunky heel boots.

I have to do some hemming to the pants are they are a bit too long for the types of shoes that I normally wear. Even with a 2 inch creepers I'm still stepping on the bottoms of the pants....flash back to memories of tattered bottoms. Hahahaa! But, regardless of the length, I'm loving wearing wide leg pants again and styling them into my wardrobe.

Dramatic Sleeves and Dramatic Poses

I shop at Target a lot, but I don't venture into the clothing section too often as I don't like to add to my bill (hello, self control?). When I do check from time to time, I fell in love with a piece. This black knit dress from the Who What Wear collection really caught my attention (plus size available too!) and I'm so glad I made the purchase.

Besides the fun, dramatic bell flared sleeves, the stretch knit is so comfortable and keeps a nice shape while it's on. I've already worn and washed the dress twice and it is still perfect! It's a great travel knit too, just fold and roll. Easy dress to style a variety of ways, I just have to figure out some ways to layer so I'm not covering up the sleeves, but the dress also looks amazing with my velvet coat.......

Misc. October Outfits

Derek likes to call the month of November, "Novemberween", so with that in mind I'm still catching up with things that happened in October including some outfits. October was a weird weather month, it was unseasonably warm and then got cooler and than warm again. I'm happy to report that the weather is currently 39 degrees as I type this post and I'm happy that it is sweater weather!

Outfit one was on a day that I over dressed slightly and was warm in a little black dress (thrift find) and leggings (Skinny Puppy website) and black flats. I was sick of wearing my summer dresses and just suffered. Hahahaha!

Outfit two was another 'I'm sweating, but dealing with it', outfit that I threw together and was quite pleased when I looked in the mirror. I'm wearing a tank dress (H&M), lightweight knit sweater (thrift find), Western belt, slouch socks with my cowbot boots. Once again I'm sooooo happy I bought this tank dress as it's a wonderful layering piece.

Outfit three was worn on a cooler day in October. I went to a local supermarket and was told, "I like your Halloween costume", and to which I replied, "This is my normal clothing". The look on the women's face was priceless. Any who, I'm wearing a t-shirt my friend James made, paired with stretch skirt/leggings combo and a fuzzy cardigan sweater (thrift find). The socks are a Halloween buy from this year (Target) and the scarf was a gift from a friend. 

Did anyone think your normal clothing was a Halloween costume? Hahaha!

Why Haven't I Purchased a Tank Dress Until Now?!

If you've been following my blog for any length of time, you may notice that I don't wear a lot of fitted clothing (other than leggings, etc.), so the idea of wearing a tank dress sorta terrified me. Then I got to thinking (and a friend of mine also mentioned she does this) of styling sweaters OVER the dress. 

I started to enjoy wearing chunky pull over sweaters that I find while thrifting, but was having a little issue styling them with the right bottoms. Now that I have the tank dress, I don't have to worry about tucking under layers into my skirts or feeling all bunched up or feeling a draft from the sweater being too short for the pants I'm wearing. Hey, I'm cold and I hate feeling back drafts. Hahahaha!

I also think I gravitated towards this one in particular was the length and the material. It's a stretch cotton blend that has great movement and isn't too clingy. Basically it's a reallllllllllllly long comfy tank top. Not only a great basic, I feel it will become a wardrobe staple.

I get excited when a wardrobe dilemma gets solved and it opens a whole new way of mixin' n' matchin'. The older I get, my wardrobe has become more curated and this way it makes dressing not only fun, but easy. I like reaching into my 'black vortex'  *cough (closet ) couch* and pulling out looks that make me feel good. Everyone should wear what they love!

Glad To Be Back in My "Uniform"

I'm a 'weather watcher' when it comes to checking the weather in order to determine how to dress, because in Buffalo it can go from 80+ degrees (Sunday-Wednesday) to 65 degrees (Thursday) and then waking up to 47 degrees on Friday. So yeah, I gotta check to make sure I won't sweat my face off or freeze my buns off. Hahahaha!!!!!

I was so excited about the cooler weather that I jokingly said, "Which black sweater should I wear today?!". Seeing as I haven't rotated my closet yet, I choose the long sweater (H&M) that I throw over most things. I loooooooooove over size long sweaters or my 'old lady/man sweaters' that I so lovingly dubbed them. I think my over size sweater obsession started with stealing my Dad's burgundy cardigan while in mid school and claiming it for my own.  (BTW-the 90s are back in full force. Over size sweaters galore!)

I called this post, "Glad To Be Back in My Uniform", as I feel so cozy and comfortable in a; button up shirt, leggings or fitted pants, silver jewelry combo and topped off with boots or creepers. Default mode is happy mode! Hahahaha!!! PS- My new TUK loafer creepers are AMAZING!

Oh yeah, over size sweaters make for great bat poses. Weeee!

Weekend Getaway: Adam Ant

This past weekend Derek and I took a weekend get-a-way to Cleveland, Ohio for some kitsch-tastic fun at Davide's Tropical Paradise (more about that in another blog), but mostly to see Adam Ant!

Derek is a huge fan and being the super fan that I am, I suggested we got dressed up for the show in our best Adam Ant-esque fashions. Turns out we both opted to wear clothing* that doesn't get much wear, but certainly got a lot of compliments and attention....very flattering! The funniest part for me was when we went to have a drink at Porco (Tiki lounge) before the show and got asked so many questions about our outfits. "Do you always dress this way?!!?!?!!?" and people forced hugs on me. I guess we made them happy...or they were just drunk. LOL! Needless to say I ordered a Navy Grog  as I was in a pirate-y state of mind. Mmmmmm!

Adam Ant was fabulous, the crowd was fabulous and we dance and sang our hearts out. I have to say, Adam looks very sexy in his leather pants. Me-OW!!!!!

A Thrift Store Cutie

Most of the time when I am thrifting or second hand shopping I'm looking for items for my etsy shop or items for resale, but occasionally I will find a little cutie for myself. This little dress was picked up for $4 and I was surprised that it had a Forever 21 label.

Though it's hard to see in the photo, I'm wearing a pair of stretch lace bike shorts by Deranged Designs. These are the best and most comfortable bike shorts I've ever owned! Not only is their construction superior, they are incredibly comfortable. The shorts make wearing dresses that are too short for me easier to wear as I don't like my bum hanging out. Hahahaha!!!

Feelin' Like Autumn

Despite battling sinus issues, I enjoyed the cooler Autumn-like weather yesterday. We've been having a very mild Summer, which has been a bit of a bummer since Derek and I bought a little 3 foot pool for the backyard. It's basically like an adult kiddie pool. Hehe!

The cooler weather gave me a chance to wear this cute tunic top I got last month on my thrifting adventures. I really love the collar and the bronze collar tip details. It's the type of top that you can roll up the sleeves and button them up, but I'm not a huge fan of that look, so I may just snip the little buttons that are on the sleeves.

Kiss Kiss, My Bangs

Hello friends! I gave my bang the ol' snip, snip and I'm very happy! Its been about 6-7 years since I've had "Betty bangs" as once I got out of the (vicious and annoying) cropped bang growing out cycle, I had the fear of going back. Butttttttttt, I'm glad I did. *Wink*

It's funny that it felt so familiar to cut my bangs, I thought I would have forgotten, but I wore them for years. Cutting my bangs is like riding a bicycle?! Hahahaha! So yeah, hair. Frankly, what I've been wearing has been nothing too exciting to feature. *Shrugs*

Ruched Dress and Confidence

Hello friends! This past Friday was our friend Bryan's dance night and that means it was time to get gussied up and stay out past our bedtimes. Good music, good friends and putting on our pointy dancing shoes is always worth it!

Don't understand what I was doing. Bat pose? Hahaha!

I don't wear a lot of fitted clothing or "bodycon" as a buzz word that the current fashion industry uses to describe clothing. I wanted to get over my current focus on the negative things I have been feeling and pull out something from the closet that has been ignored for quite a long time. After accessorizing the ruched style spaghetti strap dress with a little spider web shrug (it's from another dress), I quite enjoyed wearing this outfit!

I'm not a makeup guru by any means, but I always searching for foundation that is a close match to my pale skin. I recently ordered a few things from ulta.com which included the Total Control Drop Foundation by NYX Cosmetics. This foundation comes in 24 shades and goes from extremely light to very deep, which I think is amazing! I ordered the shade Pale as I am usually the palest shade, but in this case I ordered the second palest shade. Oh my word, Pale is TOO pale for me! The foundation will now be club makeup as I prefer to look a little more "alive" in the daytime. Hahahaha! So, if you are extremely pale or want to pale out your skin, the Total Control Drop Foundation by NYX Cosmetics may be right for you. Notes: The foundation is a liquid foundation and can be a little messy, it took some finesse with the application.

Cameo Shrug

Hello friends! How is everyone doing? This week's weather has been a little weird, rainy and breezy, but I took advantage of the weather and finally remembered to wear this lovely cameo shrug by Banned Apparel. I got this shrug when I was still working at Cats Like Us as we ordered a full size run of this garment, yet only received two. (Ugh!) I snatched one of them up and I'm glad I did as it's not only very pretty, it's very soft and easy to wear. (Shrug's other appearance)

The back pattern is so pretty, there are; cameos, crosses, filigree and bead patterns. I also like that it is trimmed in lace, has stretch and pretty much can be paired with a variety of dresses. tops, etc. Unfortunately I did some snooping and can't find this shrug  for sale anywhere (I think it's too old of a style), but I do love this one:

I'm With Creepy

This outfit was from early June (and this post has been sitting my draft folder) featuring this "I'm With Creepy" tank top by Sourpuss Clothing. I got the top last Summer and just looked on their website and I appears that they are all sold out. I rediscovered the tank while I was switching over my Winter wardrobe to Summer, and was quite tickled as I forgot about this humorous shirt.

I've really been digging wearing headbands, like the spiked one I am wearing, but the metal bases tend to squeeze my head. I can only get about 2-4 hours of wear before I can't take the head pain any more.

Yet, an accessory that never seems to pain me, are dangle earrings. I bought a few pairs of earrings from Blood Flowers Jewelry on etsy. Kristin's designs are awesome and I'm sooooo happy I bought these coffin earrings (no longer available) and a few other pairs of beautiful dangle earrings. I have my eye on some other pieces in her shop, I think I may have developed an addiction. Hehehehe!

Do you wear headbands? If so, any tips or tricks for me in preventing head pain? Hehehe!
