A Little Nostalgia with Kate's Clothing

Though I tend to lean more towards 80s styling, but I am a 90s goth through and through. When I was a teenager I didn't care whether it was 100 degrees and humid, I would still wear my little velvet dresses like the Gothic London Velvet Dress by Iron Fist (c/o Kate's Clothing)

*Bra strap across the back not part of dress

My little 'summery' velvet dress was not as edgy or strappy, but I do love that the Gothic London Velvet Dress reminds me of my beloved mini velvet dresses I would find at mall stores like Rave and Merry Go Round. Well, reminds me in the sense of style, but not a comment on the quality.....the quality is great! Hehe!

I would also wear stockings like fishnets, combat boots and though my hair was much, much shorter than my hair is now, I wore a lot of cotton headbands. I also tried to pretend that I wasn't a melting goth. Hand. Staple. Forehead.

In my older age I tend to stay away from wearing velvet in the summer, but I have to say that this dress was very comfortable and breezy. I would wear this outfit to the club or later in the day when it cools down and I can't wait to pair this dress with leggings, jackets and tall boots when it's Autumn.

Another thing I did as a teenager was dream of wearing beautiful gothic jewelry like the Villa Diodati Necklace (c/o Kate's Clothing) by Alchemy Gothic. I would go to Siren in Toronto (goth store-now defunct) and stare at displays of beautiful Alchemy Gothic necklaces, earrings and rings, dreaming of owning and wearing such splendor. Now that I have the means, I still don't take my wardrobe for granted as I have kept that budding young goth in my heart. The one who still gets excited to wear lovely adornments, especially when they have bats on them. *Wink*

A big thank you to Kate from Kate's Clothing for the lovely pieces and for helping me to walk down memory lane. Not only does Kate own Kate's Clothing, but she is also the designer of the brand Necessary Evil. Some new arrivals from Necessary Evil that caught my eye are; the Gothic Lydia Lace Drape Dress and the Gothic Hades Cross Leggings, which I think would look amazing paired together!

Ribcage Sweater

Julie Ann at work asked me how many rib cage sweaters I owned and I replied with laugh, "three". This Iron Fist rib cage sweater was picked up on a super after Christmas sale and I really loved the Peter Pan collar. It's a pull over sweater, which I generally don't gravitate towards, but it's Winter and being warm was more on my mind.

I'm wearing; rib cage sweater (Iron Fist), pleated skirt (vintage, from Julie Ann), polka dot scarf (Sourpuss Clothing), purple velvet boots (6pm.com), earrings (vintage), and coffin brooch (Charcoal Designs).

As I'm typing this, we are waiting to have a plumbing service come to the house and *hopefully* be able to give us some good news. We have been dealing with a sewer line issues since last year and we finally know that part of the pipe is collapsed. We are hoping they can help us to repair it in a 'non-digging up everything' sort of way. We've both been stressed out as we have other house issues to add to the list, BUT I am grateful for a roof over my head (even though there is a leak, ha!) and our boiler is still working. This Old Goth Haus is 129 years old, so we knew it wasn't going to be an easy road of home ownership.....

Luckily we are a great team and when there is goal in mind, we work towards that goal until the end.

Shoes! OMG! : Zombie Stomper Creeper by Iron Fist

The Zombie Stomper Creeper by Iron Fist is an interesting take on a creeper-ish shoe. I really like that they styled these shoes with some little ruffled socks, just add a little black dress and you're cute (and creepy) self is ready to face the day!

Thank you for reading! Until the next Shoes! OMG!

Shoes! OMG! : Misfits Heels

The Misfits Heels by Iron Fist were pointed out to me by one of best friend's John (Hi John!), who is not only awesome, but reads my blog and loves Shoes! OMG!. I know if John still wore heels, he'd totally rock these with a latex mini skirt. No, he's not a cross dresser, just really enthusiastic.

Shoes! OMG! : New Rider Platform Bootie

I must admit I am a sucker for red shoes, even though I only own one pair (D'oh!). The New Rider Platform Bootie by Iron Fist caught my attention as I love booties, buckles and red with black. I have to admit I'm not too crazy about the skull print, yet I think it works with the design of this particular bootie, as the black buckles and folded ankle details take center stage. I would pair these with some black skinny jeans or leggings and a moto style jacket to put emphasis on the booties while pairing together an outfit.
