My Morning with Bear Knuckle Brawlers

Welcome to my kitsch-en and my morning Wednesday routine. Wednesday's are thrift days and my time to run errands and generally have a day to myself. I tend to wear more comfy clothing while I'm running around, but I don't want to look like a complete bum. When I was contacted by Bear Knuckle Brawlers to send me some of their garments, I jumped at the chance since I had been looking for some casual attire that suited my personal style.

I'm not normally a hoodie person, but the Longline Hoodie in the moon print caught my attention since it is like a tunic and I liked that I could style it with all my printed leggings. I have to admit I've been contacted by many t-shirt/lounge wear companies and the reason why I like Bear Knuckle Brawlers so much, is that the designs are the type of imagery that I enjoy. Sometimes less is more.....in my opinion. *Wink*

The verdict: cozy, cozy, cozy. The fabric is soft and the longline hoodie design is easy to wear and I loved that after wearing it all day, I didn't have to pull down or adjust the garment. My only 'con' to the design,  is that I don't like large labels (hem line) on the front of my clothing. This is just a personal opinion about aesthetics as I think it takes away from the overall design, but no biggie!

I have more Bear Knuckle Brawler goodies to share and I get to have my partner-in-crime, Mr. Derek to help me. I also am excited to share our trip to New Orleans as we leave in just a few days!

A Little Nostalgia with Kate's Clothing

Though I tend to lean more towards 80s styling, but I am a 90s goth through and through. When I was a teenager I didn't care whether it was 100 degrees and humid, I would still wear my little velvet dresses like the Gothic London Velvet Dress by Iron Fist (c/o Kate's Clothing)

My little 'summery' velvet dress was not as edgy or strappy, but I do love that the Gothic London Velvet Dress reminds me of my beloved mini velvet dresses I would find at mall stores like Rave and Merry Go Round. Well, reminds me in the sense of style, but not a comment on the quality.....the quality is great! Hehe!

I would also wear stockings like fishnets, combat boots and though my hair was much, much shorter than my hair is now, I wore a lot of cotton headbands. I also tried to pretend that I wasn't a melting goth. Hand. Staple. Forehead.

In my older age I tend to stay away from wearing velvet in the summer, but I have to say that this dress was very comfortable and breezy. I would wear this outfit to the club or later in the day when it cools down and I can't wait to pair this dress with leggings, jackets and tall boots when it's Autumn. 

Another thing I did as a teenager was dream of wearing beautiful gothic jewelry like the Villa Diodati Necklace (c/o Kate's Clothing) by Alchemy Gothic. I would go to Siren in Toronto (goth store-now defunct) and stare at displays of beautiful Alchemy Gothic necklaces, earrings and rings, dreaming of owning and wearing such splendor. Now that I have the means, I still don't take my wardrobe for granted as I have kept that budding young goth in my heart. The one who still gets excited to wear lovely adornments, especially when they have bats on them. *Wink*

Trying to Beat the Summer Heat with Tobi

When I was contacted by Jennifer from Tobi, I was glad because I really dig their selection of summery black clothing. I was drawn to the All Eyes on Me Maxi Dress, because of the neckline and how it tied in the back. 

I was a little worried about how to wear a bra, so I paired the dress with a criss-cross back bralette and really liked the way the straps played into the design of the dress. I know I expressed how I didn't understand how to wear certain dresses with all the cut-out's or low backs in a previous blog post, so I got myself a few pretty bralette's (love the Wrapped in Lace Bralette), which has been an amazing summer wardrobe solution. It's been hot and sticky, so. very. sticky.

I also would like to point out that I would normally wear a necklace, but this neckline doesn't necessarily need more which I find very nice on hot days when wearing jewelry can be uncomfortable. This particular day I did a lot of walking and was so happy to not have anything rubbing on me and just enjoyed the breeze gently blowing my hair and flowy dress around. Ahhhhhh.....

And then there are days I over accessorize (like there's such a thing?!) and pair the Cross Walk Maxi Skirt and Look Divine Double Buckle Belt together with a basic tank top, chain necklace, big hoops and a big hat. Oh yeah, and my favorite pointy booties.

Remember when there were crosses on everything? Well, it's not just a trend in this goth's wardrobe, so the Cross Walk Maxi Skirt with its long sheer over skirt and solid mini skirt underneath, paired with the side slits make this a very breezy piece to wear. I have to admit that the mini skirt is a little too mini for my derriere, so next time I will be styling the skirt with something long over the top to create a layered look. 

Oh yes, can't forget about my new favorite belt. The Look Divine Double Buckle Belt with it's metal tips, ornate buckles and Western-ish vibes make me a very happy gal. I love belts and really think they can add so much to a basic black dress or break up a pattern. 

This is what happens when you want to go out for a drink with your husband, but you want to wear a new dress you just got. I may have been a little over dressed, but once I started styling the Meadow Cut Out Skater Dress, I couldn't stop! The lovely rose pattern on the dress is divine, so pairing my rose crown was a no-brainer and it also looked nice with my pin curled hair! Side note: pin curls are keeping the terrible humid-induced frizz away. I can't wait to go back to our regular teasing routine.

The dress fits beautifully, but the bust was slightly too big, so added a little coffin pin to create a sweetheart neckline. I added an oldie, but goodie necklace, bracelets and some lace flats for comfort. I felt lovely for the evening and had a nice relaxing evening with my awesome husband.
