Lace Blouse

I don't know why, but I've been feeling the pants vibe as of late. So, I paired some treggings (why are they called that!?) with a lace blouse and my trusty ponte knit blazer. I love ponte knit, it has such better structure and feel than jersey, and has a lot more movement than straight polyester. Very easy to pair with a variety of other fabrics and washes beautifully.

I also got a hair cut and I'm feelin' fancy for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, which we're celebrating by either getting Chinese, Ethiopian or possibly Indian food. It's our first Thanksgiving in the house, so it will be nice and quite, but we'll also be prepping the house/food to host Friendsgiving on Friday. Can't wait for the carb fest! Hehehe!

Flowy Lace

The leaves look so beautiful at this time of the year. The breeze and the smell of Autumn was wonderful this day and adorning myself in a flowy lace dress just felt right.

Pretty Lace Kimono

 I picked this lovely piece up at a Canadian Marshall's while Derek and I were returning from doing a little shopping at Ikea. I fell in love with the 20s-inspired style and I'm not sure if I should call this a kimono, but in current fashion terms I don't believe I am incorrect. 

I was drawn to the sleeves and how the kimono flowed, but I wasn't thrilled with the $30 price tag. Derek encouraged me to pick up the piece seeing as he knows I love to layer and I love lace, so it was a no brainer. Yes, my husband often plays my fashion stylist and is a good shopping partner. I'll keep him around. Hehehe!

Sophistique Noir's Monthly Theme : Bows

I was having a little issue trying to get everything to link back to Miss Sophistique Noir's Monthly Theme, so I'm a little late! I like to think "fashionably late", hehe! This month's theme is bows and I sure do love bows! The outfit pictures below is from Christmas Eve 2011 and I'm wearing a black and white bow patterned skirt by Switchblade Stiletto.

These photos sorta suck. Blech.

This skirt is currently up for sale on my ebay as I'm not in love with the way it looks on me and I'm doing a closet purge and this lovely item is getting the boot. Why don't I love it on me? In order for me to wear it I have to wear a long line shaper to smooth out all the lumps and bumps. I'm not scared of support garments, I'm just getting tired of wear layers upon layers under pencil skirts in order for them to look good on me. I'm not a perfectionist, I just know when something doesn't really suit my shape and I know this skirt emphasizes things I want to minimize. *Wink*

I enjoy incorporating bows into my outfits through accessories. The piece all the way to the left is my trusty western style ribbon tie which I add to button-up collared blouses for a  little more fun! You can get ribbon ties in a variety of colors, I have a vintage silver/red rose patterned ribbon tie that I just reminded myself I have.....somewhere. 

I might as well incorporate my Shoes! OMG! post as I found a pair of shoes that fits the theme! Check out the De Blossom Cailie Shoe.

The peek-a-boo lace sides really made me love these shoes. Along with the unique bow detail and elegant overall look of the shoes makes me want to pair them with a romantic 1920s inspired drop waist dress. I see the 1920s influence creeping into the trendy store's with romantic and flowing fabrics. If there is black lace, I will be there to "ohhhh and ahhhhhhh".

February's Homework Assignment : "I Forgot I Even Own This"

Oh! The Le Professeur Gothique's February homework assignment, "I forgot I even owned this!", was a pretty easy assignment to complete. I dug deep into the back of the closet and pulled out a few things that I didn't necessary "forget" I owned, but I know I haven't worn these garments in quite a few years.

I know you're all yelling at me saying, "Why in the world would you not wear this dress more often?!". My answer, "I dunno", hahahaaaa! It's a very memorable dress with the bright red color and black stripes, I guess I just don't want to wear out it's welcome. 

Dress is by Shawna Hofman purchased on our San Francisco trip from the wonderful boutique, Five and Diamond. Witchy boots purchased from etsy's vintage section and "fishnet" leggings from Walmart.

Lovely hair creation by my friend Dolly from Dungaree Dolly, they are black Calla Lilies as she knows they are my favorite flower, well the white ones are anyway. *Wink* Black Rose Bud Earrings (a gift) from Rocklove Jewelry.

Onto the second outfit of misfit clothing..............................................................................

Ack! PVC (vinyl) never really photograph's well with a typical point-n-shoot camera. Anywho, the skirt is a custom made Gallery Serpentine skirt that I ordered about 8 years ago? (DAMN!) It is an amazing skirt, very high quality, yet can be cumbersome to wear. I'm just not really into long skirts any more, but I do like it paired it with Lip Service lace jacket and corset. Hrmmmm......I may have to wear this out!

The corset was purchased (new) from eBay for $20, made by Heavy Red. The corset is a relatively new purchase and I have not worn it out, yet it did appear on a model for a photo shoot. The white satin and black lace jacket was purchased a few years ago off eBay and it is a sample from a seller who sells Lip Service's samples and close outs. It's a lovely jacket, but it is flawed and as you can see in the left picture the right shoulder sorta droops. The jacket is also pretty big on me, but I think paired with corset it makes a nice silhouette.

Shoes! OMG! : Lace 4 Buckle Boots by T.U.K

Oh boy do I love lace, and when you put lace on boots AND add buckles, makes these boots worthy of drooling over for Shoes! OMG! Thursday. The Black Lace 4-Buckle Boots by Anarchic T.U.K Shoes are vegan friendly, have a cheater zipper and 4 metal buckle details. Wear these combat style boots with jeans, skirts, or your favorite black babydoll dresses, as these boots are pure old school gothy goodness. I owned a pair of leather T.U.K boots very similar in design to these and I was a sad monkey when they went to the garbage grave. Thank you T.U.K for making some of my favorite shoes and boots!
