I've Got a Brand New Bag

No catchy title here, but I really did get a brand new bag. I bought this black canvas purse from eBay and added the Killstar Bast Patch.

The patch was hand sewn on with white upholstery thread which I find works the best for its strength and durability. I was going to use black, but the husband borrowed it and it has not been returned to the sewing room. Hehe!

Other than the new bag, I've just been busy with work and prepping the house for my parents two week visit. I'm very house proud and want their style to be as comfortable as possible!

Happy Friday everyone!

Vest Weather, Finally!

I can't deny that I don't love my jackets, but I am loving the fact that I don't need to wear long sleeves with my beloved vests.

This black denim vest was added to the closet last summer and is now getting some TLC. I did some work to it over the winter like, taking it in at the sides to create a slimmer silhouette and adding this amazing back patch by Poison Apple Print Shop. The patch is The Amulets of Bastet which can be purchased here.

Oh and hey! I'm outside, wooo!!!

Eye of Horus

I was happy to add an Eye of Horus necklace to my jewelry collection as I enjoy ancient Egyptian symbolism and mythology. I've been watching a lot of documentaries on the subject and I'm hoping to go visit the mummies at the Buffalo Museum of Science. Last time I was at the museum the exhibit was under construction, so I've been waiting patiently and I see that a new exhibit, 'Mummies of the World' is opening April 12th. Yay!!!

Kitsch Picks : Inspired by the Egyptians

Egyptian Inspiration

I've been seeing some labels like Widow Clothing using Egyptian influences on their garments and it has me excited. I've studied about Ancient Egyptian on my own and find their 'afterlife' rituals and meanings to be extremely intriguing.

Some symbols and their (loose) meaning:
Ankh: symbol of life, often seen in Egyptian tombs
Scarab beetle or the Scarabaeus sacer: transformation, renewal, and resurrection, also seen in funerary cult traditions.
Eye of Horus (also known as Eye of Ra): protection, health
